PM Modi urges India Inc to invest, leverage Budget push for growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged India Inc to step up investments and innovation, emphasising that the government has already laid a strong foundation through policy reforms and increased capital expenditure, reported news agency PTI. Addressing the first post-Budget webinar on ‘Technology, Reforms and Finance for Viksit Bharat’, PM Modi said the private sector must now take the lead in driving India’s next phase of globally competitive growth. “India Inc should come forward with fresh investment and innovation,” he said, calling for closer collaboration between industry, financial institutions, and policymakers, reported PTI. How leagues, federations and broadcasters leverage AI automation in sports

How leagues, federations and broadcasters leverage AI automation in sports

As global sports consumption fragments across broadcast, OTT and social platforms, leagues, federations and broadcasters are under growing pressure to deliver faster, more relevant content at scale. Fans expect instant access to key moments, personalised storytelling and consistent coverage across formats and devices, while rights holders are expected to do more across packed sporting calendars without proportionally increasing production overheads. Eurovision Sport and NAGRAVISION are responding to this shift by embedding AI-led automation at the core of their content workflows, offering a practical example of how modern sports organisations can scale efficiently. Supported by Indian sports technology solutions company Sportz Interactive (SI), the collaboration reflects a wider industry move towards technology-enabled production models that prioritise speed, scale and flexibility. Across this approach, AI is being used to streamline the most resource-intensive parts of content creation, from identifying key in-game moments to assembling highlights and distributing them across platforms. By automating these workflows, the collaboration enables the processing of over 10,000 hours of live sports annually across more than 20 sports, while allowing editorial teams to …

‘Leverage against India, China, Brazil’: US lawmaker says Trump greenlit Russia sanction bill

The President Donald Trump-led US administration is reportedly planning to impose tough new sanctions on Russia amid the ongoing bid to end the war between Russia and Ukraine that started in 2022. File photo of US Senator Lindsey Graham (L) with President Donald Trump. (REUTERS) Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said Trump during a meeting with him on Wednesday, “greenlit” the Russia sanctions bill that has been in the works for months, Associated Press reported. “After a very productive meeting today with President Trump on a variety of issues, he greenlit the bipartisan Russia sanctions bill,” Graham was quoted as saying. He expressed hope for a strong ‘bipartisan vote ‘as early as next week. ‘Leverage against China, India’ Graham said the bill would allow President Trump to “punish countries” that buy cheap Russian oil, which he said is being used to fuel Putin’s war machine. He further added that the legislation would provide “tremendous leverage against countries like China, India and Brazil to incentivize them to stop buying the cheap Russian oil that provides the financing …

Can Security Experts Leverage Generative AI Without Prompt Engineering Skills?

Can Security Experts Leverage Generative AI Without Prompt Engineering Skills?

Professionals across industries are exploring generative AI for various tasks — including creating information security training materials — but will it truly be effective? Brian Callahan, senior lecturer and graduate program director in information technology and web sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Shoshana Sugerman, an undergraduate student in this same program, presented the results of their experiment on this topic at ISC2 Security Congress in Las Vegas in October. Experiment involved creating cyber training using ChatGPT The main question of the experiment was “How can we train security professionals to administer better prompts for an AI to create realistic security training?” Relatedly, must security professionals also be prompt engineers to design effective training with generative AI? To address these questions, researchers gave the same assignment to three groups: security experts with ISC2 certifications, self-identified prompt engineering experts, and individuals with both qualifications. Their task was to create cybersecurity awareness training using ChatGPT. Afterward, the training was distributed to the campus community, where users provided feedback on the material’s effectiveness. The researchers hypothesized that there …

Australian Organisations Need to Better Leverage IT to Reduce Carbon Emissions

In 2015, The Paris Agreement, a landmark global agreement across 196 nations and parties acknowledging the dangers posed by climate change, was signed. But despite all of the efforts at awareness-raising, the amount of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere is increasing. According to Australia’s CSIRO research, the world has fewer than seven years to slash carbon emissions by half to keep the impact of climate change to a relative minimum. The IT function within organisations can drive efficiencies that result in lower carbon being emitted by the company overall. With employees expecting to see their organisations show leadership in this way, leveraging IT to support sustainability can also improve morale, employee engagement and retention. More broadly, countries like Australia, which have access to the kind of technologies and capabilities to drive efficiency and the wealth to invest in them, need to be more proactive in furthering the reduction of emissions. Companies within nations like Australia that do take a genuine leadership position on this will benefit commercially and reputationally. Companies need to do …
