India’s Lakshya Sen broke his three-match losing streak against China’s Li Shi Feng as he moved into the semi-finals of the 2026 All England Open Super 1000 with a 21-13, 21-16 straight games win on Friday. Sen, the only Indian left in contention in the prestigious tournament, outplayed the sixth seeded Li in exactly an hour. Despite having played two long deciders in the first two rounds of the competition, Sen looked rather fresh in the quarter-final against the higher ranked Chinese. He was comfortable to bide his time in long rallies and was in no hurry to hit home winners, thereby reducing his usual errors. The Indian expertly controlled the rallies, increasing or decreasing the pace of the game at will. For most of the match, Li was just reacting to the lower-ranked opponent’s relentless attacks. “Chair umpire also asked where have you been” – Kidambi Srikanth after runner-up finish at Malaysia Masters 2025

Kidambi Srikanth earned a runner-up finish at the 2025 Malaysia Masters Super 500 in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. The former world No 1 lost 11-21, 9-21 in straight games to China’s Li Shi Feng in men’s singles at the Axiata Arena. The run into the final marked a first BWF World Tour final appearance for Srikanth since 2019. It is also the first individual final he played since his historic silver medal finish at the 2021 BWF World Championships. Off late, Srikanth has been struggling for form and had even dropped out of top 80 world rankings a few weeks back. “My chair umpire was also asking, ‘where have you been?’ I didn’t know people really missed me,” a relieved Srikanth joked in the mixed zone after his loss in the final. “But yeah, very happy to be back again,” he added. During the Singapore Open last year, Srikanth endured a fall on the court which pushed him out of action for some time. The injury lay off was a bit longer than expected. It …

Earlier, Kidambi, who emerged from the qualifying draw, earned a hard-fought victory in straight games (21-18, 22-20) over a higher-ranked Yushi Tanaka of Japan in the semi-final. Attacking Masterclass from Li Shi Feng Feng displayed an outstanding aggressive play to outshine Kidambi in this one-sided affair, who tried to go over-aggressive and deny Feng a chance to attack, but eventually ended up making a lot of unforced errors. All England Open: Shi Yu Qi’s charge to the final, the only predictable outcome in men’s singles draw | Badminton News

The World No 1 will compete in the men’s singles final of the All England Open in 2025. That, perhaps, has been the only predictable outcome in a wild week of badminton at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. By the last eight stages, in fact, Shi Yu Qi and Li Shi Feng were the only seeded players left in the men’s singles draw. The top seed made it to the title clash, but was pushed all the way by his compatriot Li in the semifinal on Saturday. After having won the first game comfortably, it seemed Shi would cruise through but what followed in Games 2 and 3 was a high-quality match between two men who know each other all too well. In the end, Shi prevailed 21-9, 20-22, 21-19 in a 76-minute marathon. The other half of the draw was already full of surprises, with France’s rising 20-year-old beast Alex Lanier going up against world No 22 Lee Chia Hao in a clash of unseeded players. And it was the Chinese Taipei right-hander who …
