Air improves, anti-pollution curbs lifted in Delhi | Delhi News
With forecasts indicating that Delhi’s air quality would remain in the ‘moderate’ category in the coming days, Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP II) was revoked on Monday evening. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and Adjoining Areas lifted the curbs. GRAP Stage 1 has been in effect in the capital since October 15 last year. Story continues below this ad With the air quality index (AQI) clocking 156 in the ‘moderate’ category for the fourth consecutive day, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the Commission cited the ‘downward trend’ in its order on Monday. It also stated, “… all agencies concerned are also required to… take appropriate actions… particularly dust-mitigation measures for construction and demolition activities and roads/open areas, which would become a predominant factor in the coming months determining the air quality in Delhi-NCR.” The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast strong surface winds up to 30 kmph till Wednesday, which is further expected to improve the air quality.
