The Indian Railways has invited applications for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) positions across all zones. The online application process will begin on May 15, 2026 and close on 14 June 2026 at 23:59 pm, an official statement said on Thursday. An official notification was issued by the Central Railway`s Solapur division. Eligibility and applications Candidates must apply only through official Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) websites or the central recruitment portal at https://www.rrbapply.gov.in Candidates are advised to ensure that their personal details match exactly with their Aadhar card and 10th class certificates. The Aadhar should be updated with the latest photograph and biometric information. Verification of primary details via Aadhar is mandatory to avoid delays during scrutiny. “Candidates are strongly advised to rely only on official RRB websites for authentic information and to beware of touts, brokers and job racketeers,” officials said. About 60 people were injured a loco train carrying workers and officials collided with a goods train inside Pipalkoti tunnel of the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project tunnel in Uttarakhand`s Chamoli district late Tuesday evening, officials said. Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar said that there were a total of 109 people on the train at the time of the accident, which occurred late in the evening, and 60 of them were injured. He said that all the people have been rescued and condition of all the injured is stable. The DM said that one train carrying people and another carrying materials were moving inside the Pipalkoti tunnel of the project, being constructed by THDC (India), when they collided. According to officials, loco trains are used inside tunnels for the transportation of workers, officials, and materials for construction work. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chamoli said that 10 injured people have been sent to the district hospital in Gopeshwar for treatment. According to railway sources, on the night of April 8, Bibin Joseph was manning a goods train bound for Mangaluru in Palghat Division when he received an SOS from his pregnant wife that she had developed labour pain. However, he continued to run the train for about three hours till it reached the destination and completed his duty. After handing over the locomotive to the authorities concerned, he informed the Crew Controller about his wife’s condition and gave a request for leave. Since he was on duty, his mobile was on switch off mode. It was only at a scheduled stop that he noticed that his wife was trying to reach him since evening, the sources said. A villager named Sunil, who observed a crack in the welding between two tracks, alerted the loco pilot. The train was stopped near Gudur railway station, under Vijayawada division, on Sunday (March 9, 2025). “The engineering staff rushed to the spot, rectified the problem and resumed the operations at around 7.40 a.m.,” said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil. “A breakage developed at the joint of two rails, which was covered by fish plates, a little away from Gudur railway station. The villager, who noticed the crack alerted the railway officers. The Gudur Station Master stopped Howrah-Bengaluru Express, alerted the Engineering staff, who rectified the problem,” the DRM told The Hindu. “Howrah Express was delayed for about half-an-hour.
