Khandala Ghat rail restoration back to square one as heavy rain washes away rebuilt track formations

Back to square one. Continuous heavy rainfall in the Khandala Ghat section of Maharashtra has undone railway restoration work as the track formations have once again been washed away due to the incessant flow of streams between Monkey Hill and Thakurwadi. On Tuesday, Lonavala recorded 340.5 mm of rainfall, while on Wednesday, it received 241.4 mm. The track formations that were being rebuilt have been washed away again, forcing railway teams to restart the restoration work.
