Sheshnaag-150: India’s Quiet Entry Into Long-Range Kamikaze Drone Warfare Explained | Explainers News

Last Updated:March 04, 2026, 15:08 IST Sheshnaag-150 is a long-range loitering munition, commonly referred to as a ‘suicide drone’ or ‘kamikaze drone’ The ‘150’ in Sheshnaag-150 is understood to represent the range at which the weapon can strike its target, i.e., 150 kilometers. (Facebook) As wars in West Asia and Europe prove the potential of cheap, long-range drones, India is quietly developing its arsenal of unmanned strike weapons. While the use of loitering weapons is at an all-time high in the ongoing wars involving Iran, Israel, and the US, India is quietly developing an indigenous version of the weapon, called Sheshnaag-150, which is a long-range drone designed to loiter before striking the target. This marks India’s entry into a new style of warfare, which is changing battlefields worldwide. It is the style of precision strikes, which are carried out by relatively cheap, expendable, and unmanned drones. What Is Sheshnaag-150? Sheshnaag-150 is a long-range loitering munition, commonly referred to as a ‘suicide drone’ or ‘kamikaze drone.’ Unlike conventional missiles, which travel on a fixed trajectory to …

DRDO Tests Long-Range Missile Engine Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet Off Odisha Coast | Video | India News

Last Updated:February 03, 2026, 18:48 IST All subsystems of the missile, including the Nozzle-less Booster, Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet motor, and Fuel Flow Controller, performed as expected. The missile was initially propelled by a ground booster motor to the required Mach speed before the SFDR system took over. The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday successfully demonstrated Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. The successful test, carried around around 10:45 AM, places India among a select group of nations with this advanced capability, enabling the development of long-range air-to-air missiles that provide a tactical advantage over potential adversaries. #WATCH | Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has carried out a successful demonstration of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha at around 1045 hrs on February 03, 2026. Kia’s next EV is the affordable, long-range EV4 sedan

Kia’s next EV is the affordable, long-range EV4 sedan

The EV4 sedan was first announced as a concept in 2023, but it’s now a real car. It comes in two versions. One has a funky rear that stretches out to look like a traditional 4-door car. The other, a “five-door” hot-hatch-looking version will primarily be for the European market, according to Kia. These aren’t going to be Kia’s most-performant EVs though, as they will be single-motor front-wheel drive vehicles with just 150kW of power and a 0-62 mph acceleration time as quick as 7.4 seconds. The EV4 will also run on a lesser 400-volt version of the company’s E-GMP platform instead of the faster-charging 800-volt versions used in the EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and others. Kia says the system can still charge 10 to 80 percent in as little as 31 minutes. The vehicles could shine in battery range. Kia says they’ll get up to 630km (about 391 miles) on a single charge with the larger 81.4 kWh battery option, and 430km (about 267 miles) on the smaller 58.3 kWh battery. However, those estimates …

USS Zumwalt Stealth Destroyer to be Mounted Hypersonic Missiles for Long-Range Strikes: Report

USS Zumwalt Stealth Destroyer to be Mounted Hypersonic Missiles for Long-Range Strikes: Report

The USS Zumwalt, a stealth destroyer from the United States Navy, is undergoing upgrades to accommodate experimental hypersonic missiles under the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) programme. These missiles, capable of speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound, represent a significant advancement in non-nuclear warfare. According to reports, the enhanced capabilities will allow for precise and rapid strikes across vast distances, surpassing the range and effectiveness of conventional weaponry. What are Hypersonic Weapons? As per a report by AP News, Hypersonic missiles, designed to travel at speeds exceeding Mach 5—approximately 3,830 miles per hour—are engineered for speed and precision. Unlike ballistic missiles, CPS systems employ a hypersonic glide vehicle, capable of reaching Mach 8, or around 6,140 mph. Reports suggest that each Zumwalt-class destroyer will carry four launch tubes, each housing three of these advanced missiles. The system’s altitude capabilities further contribute to its effectiveness, with missiles reaching up to 50 miles above sea level to minimise air resistance. Defence experts noted in several statements that this high-altitude trajectory reduces drag and enhances speed, making …

Ukraine hits Russia with US-made long-range missiles for first time on war’s 1,000th day – India TV

Image Source : AP Russia-Ukraine war Ukraine used US ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory for the first time on Tuesday, Moscow said, in a major escalation on the war’s 1,000th day. Russia said its forces shot down five of six missiles fired at a military facility in the Bryansk region, while debris of one hit the facility, causing no casualties or damage. Ukraine said it had struck a Russian arms depot around 110 km inside Russia and caused secondary explosions. It did not specify what weapons it had used. US President Joe Biden gave approval just this week for Ukraine to use medium-range US missiles for such attacks, which Moscow has described as an escalation that would make Washington a direct combatant in the war and prompt retaliation. It came amid plans for vigils to mark 1,000 days of war, with weary troops at the front, Kyiv besieged by airstrikes, and doubts about the future of Western support as Donald Trump heads back to the White House. Military experts say US missiles can help …
