Beed robbery case: 4 arrested for assaulting biker, looting Rs 23,000 on highway
Days after a gang assaulted a motorcyclist and robbed him of Rs 23,000 cash in Beed district of Maharashtra, police have arrested four of its members, officials said on Tuesday. The incident had occurred near Samnapur village on the Dhule-Solapur highway on Beed Bypass Road in the early hours of June 16, news agency PTI reported, quoting officials. The complainant, 42-year-old Radheshyam Nandlal Parikh, was riding his motorcycle from Pali in Beed tehsil towards Beed when four unidentified men intercepted him around 2.30 am. They assaulted him and robbed Rs 23,000 cash he was carrying, before fleeing, an official said. Based on a complaint, a case was registered with the Beed Rural police station under section 309 (6) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The local crime branch launched a probe and examined the CCTV footage. Acting on a tip-off, the team identified the prime suspect as Avezkhan Parvezkhan (25), a resident of the Barshi Naka area.
