The Luthra brothers, owners of the Goa club where 25 people died in a fire, have been detained in Thailand and are expected to be brought back to India soon, officials said. Hours after the fire broke out in the Birch club by Romeo Lane in North Goa last Saturday night, the brothers, who own the Romeo Lane chain with many outlets in India and overseas, fled to Thailand’s Phuket. Indian agencies had been in touch with Thai authorities and were continuously receiving updates about the brothers’ movements and stay, eventually learning that they were located outside the main city area. The two have been moved to detention centres in Phuket, and Indian agencies have established contact with Thai authorities as the process to secure their return gets underway.
