B. Patil said in the Legislative Assembly on Friday. Replying to a question by BJP member G. Janardhana Reddy, Mr. Patil said airports in Tier-II cities such as Kalaburagi, Bidar and Shivamogga are not financially sustainable after the completion of the three-year incentive period under the scheme, which provides concessional airfares to passengers. Across country Noting that several airports located in district and divisional headquarters across the country are facing similar financial challenges, he said the airport at Bidar is currently operating with financial support from the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB). There has also been a demand to resume operations at the Kalaburagi airport with similar support from the Board, he added. Minister M.B. Patil pushes for faster Bengaluru–Vijayapura train travel

Karnataka Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil on Wednesday directed officials to reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Vijayapura from the current 14–15 hours to around 10 hours. Chairing a high-level review meeting with South Western Railway officials, Mr. Patil proposed routing changes and infrastructure upgrades to accelerate train services across the state. To cut down delays, Mr. Patil suggested diverting trains at Hubballi South to bypass the main Hubballi station and avoid engine changes at Gadag. He also proposed using the Gadag bypass to further save travel time. Railway officials responded positively and promised to escalate the suggestions. The Minister reviewed multiple railway projects, including the Gadag–Vijayapura double-tracking, which could pave the way for Vande Bharat Express once electrification and track upgrades near Bagalkote are completed. According to an official release, he also addressed concerns over the Dharwad–Kittur–Belagavi line, announcing a public meeting in Mammigatti to resolve land acquisition issues. Two sites shortlisted for Bengaluru’s second airport: Minister M.B. Patil

Two sites have been shortlisted for Bengaluru’s proposed second airport and it will be sent to the Airport Authority of India before February 17, Industries Minister M.B. Patil said on Saturday. The Minister said that the selection will be based on merit and and will not be a political decision. There are indications that the State government is considering Nelamangala and Kanakapura Road as possible sites for the second airport. “We have shortlisted two sites and had one round of briefing with Chief Minister. Karnataka sees 18.2% increase in the number of start-ups: M.B. Patil

This growth has propelled Karnataka to the forefront, now housing 8.7% of India’s total start-ups, the highest percentage for any State, said M.B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development. In a post on X, he said, ‘’This growth further solidifies Karnataka’s role as a national leader, now accounting for 8.7% of India’s total start-ups — the highest of any State.” Karnataka’s supportive ecosystem, he wrote, was driven by policy innovation and strategic initiatives. Patil, who is also the Vijayapura district in-charge Minister, on Saturday clarified that 1,200 acres of land at Honavada in Tikota taluk of Vijayapura district, being designated as waqf property is due to an error in the gazette. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Patil said only 11 acres out of the 1,200 acres was waqf property. It included a burial ground covering 10 acres and 14 guntas, with an idgah, masjid, and other structures on the remaining 24 guntas. “All other land belongs to farmers, as confirmed by the local tahsildar and the Deputy Commissioner,” he said. Mr. Patil explained that gazette notifications on waqf properties in Vijayapura district were issued in 1974, 1978, and 2016. The waqf property does exist in Mahalbagayata of Vijayapura.
