Mackenzie Shirilla‘s lawyers requested that the Ohio Supreme Court reopen an appeal that had previously been denied due to a disagreement over the filing date. Prosecutors said the Eighth District Court of Appeals in Cuyahoga County denied a prior petition due to a calendar error. A dispute over filing deadlines and a leap-year calculation has now become central to Mackenzie Shirilla’s efforts to overturn her conviction. According to News 19, Steve, who teaches art and digital media, has been placed on administrative leave by the Mary Queen of Peace School in Cleveland. According to Oxygen, the school officials confirmed that an employee of their institution has been put on leave. “Administrators at Mary Queen of Peace School in Cleveland are investigating allegations made on social media that one of its teachers has demonstrated poor judgment,” they said.
