No second autopsy but look for options to preserve body: Bhopal court in Twisha Sharma case | India News

4 min readBhopalMay 21, 2026 02:49 AM IST A Bhopal court on Wednedsay dismissed an application filed by the family of Twisha Sharma – who was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal last week – seeking directions that a second postmortem examination be conducted at AIIMS Delhi, but ordered the authorities to urgently explore facilities across Madhya Pradesh capable of preserving the body at ultra-low temperatures amid fears of decomposition. In an order passed by Judicial Magistrate First Class Anudita Gupta, the court dismissed Twisha’s family’s application seeking “directions for conducting a second postmortem examination at AIIMS Delhi and for forensic analysis of the deceased”. However, the court took note of concerns raised regarding the preservation of Twisha’s body. Referring to a police report placed before it, the magistrate recorded that the body is currently being kept in the mortuary at AIIMS Bhopal at minus 4 degrees Celsius. Madhya Pradesh High Court Allows Rape Survivor To End 8-Week Pregnancy

(Representational) Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed the termination of a teenage rape survivor’s pregnancy of more than eight weeks, and directed her father to submit an affidavit stating that they will not resile from their accusation during the trial. The high court passed the order on January 2, in which it allowed the minor survivor’s plea seeking termination of her pregnancy. It directed her father to file an affidavit before Sagar district’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), mentioning that she was subjected to rape by the accused and has filed a petition to terminate pregnancy. The petition was heard by the bench of Justice G S Ahluwalia. As per the complaint lodged in Sagar district of the state, the girl aged about 17 years became pregnant after she was raped by an accused on October 23 last year.
