Magh Mela area declared no-vehicle zone

The entire Magh Mela area was declared a no-vehicle zone from 8 pm on Thursday as the administration put in place extensive traffic and crowd management measures ahead of the Magh Mela, which begins on Saturday with the Paush Purnima bathing. A large number of devotees are expected to arrive on the opening day, prompting police to enforce strict movement regulations across the Mela zone. Dedicated routes have been marked for pedestrian movement within the Mela zone and towards the Sangam Nose, while a one-way system has been implemented on all pontoon bridges. Devotees travelling from Parade to Jhunsi will use pontoon bridges 3, 5 and 7, while those moving from Jhunsi to Parade will cross through pontoon bridges 4 and 6. The uruka feast is a big celebration and every businessman and woman in Assam aims to sell their produce for it. PRAYAGRAJ To ensure all pilgrim facilities at the Magh Mela, scheduled from January 6, 2023, the Uttar Pradesh government and the district administration is making several preparations in full swing. On the lines of Kumbh-2019, visitors coming from all over the world to the Magh Mela will be able to enjoy a comfortable stay in the tent city with five-star-like facilities. Besides, water sports — including water polo, triathlon, and others — would also be organised. All the sectors of the Mela area are to be divided into zones and circles, and a map would be displayed at a number of places for the visitor with ‘You Are Here’ signages at every intersection, said officials. Instructions regarding the aforementioned and other facilities were issued by the urban development minister Arvind Kumar Sharma in a review meeting on Saturday.
