Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today (November 3) said the Mahayuti government aims to make Mumbai slum-free and its focus is on providing affordable housing to the poor. “If we can work so much in two-and-half years, imagine how much we will work in five years,” he told the impressive gathering while seeking a renewed mandate. “We will give the poor affordable homes. Don’t the poor have the right to have a house in Mumbai? Can’t the son of a poor farmer be CM? Or only those born with a silver spoon can become CM,” he said in a veiled attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. The Shiv Sena on Tuesday revealed its first 45 candidates for November’s Maharashtra assembly election. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who heads the Sena, will contest from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi assembly constituency in his stronghold of Thane, a late-night release from the party showed. FAMILY MEMBERS of actor Salman Khan who has been on the radar of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar have expressed concerns over the security provided to the actor given that five rounds were fired at the building, of which four shots hit the building. According to a source, what particularly scared the family was that one of the four bullets was lodged in the balcony of the flat where the actor, who enjoys Y-plus security, resides. File The Bombay High Court has ordered status quo on a decision taken by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when he was a Minister in the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of allotting land meant for slum dwellers to private persons. A division bench of Justices Sunil Shukre and M.W. Chandwani of the HC’s Nagpur bench in its order passed on December 14 noted the court since 2004 has been monitoring the land allotments made by the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) to politicians and other influential individuals. This was after a petition was filed alleging the NIT gave away land to politicians and others at meagre rates. On December 14, the bench was informed by amicus curie (appointed by court to assist) advocate Anand Parchure that Shinde during his tenure as the urban development Minister of the MVA government directed the NIT to give away land acquired for housing scheme for slum dwellers to 16 private persons. “If any such order as claimed is really passed …
