NIA chief Sadanand Date repatriated to parent cadre Maharashtra | India News

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Monday sent senior IPS officer Sadanand Date, currently the National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief, to his parent cadre with immediate effect. He is likely to replace incumbent Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla, whose tenure ends on December 31. In an order, the Centre said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for premature repatriation of Sadanand Vasant Date to his parent cadre with immediate effect.” The MHA had received a request from the Maharashtra government to repatriate Date to the state. Date, like Shukla, is likely to be given a two-year tenure as the state police chief, with his tenure ending in December 2027. Date was one of the officers who had taken on the terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. His bravery and presence of mind led to the rescue of hostages at the Cama and Albless Hospital for women and children. The officer was later awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry. Date …
