Ahead of the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday delivered a major political setback to rival parties by inducting around 20 former corporators and some office bearers from the city. The party has also inducted 12 leaders from its alliance partner in Mahayuti, the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Image Source : X/BJP Governor P C Radhakrishnan administered the oath to the new ministers at the ceremony held in Nagpur Maharashtra Cabinet Expansion: The much-awaited cabinet expansion of the BJP-led Maharashtra government took place on Sunday (December 15), with 39 ministers,  taking its strength to 42. Notably, the council of ministers in Maharashtra can have a maximum of 43 members, including the chief minister. While 33 legislators were sworn in as cabinet ministers, six took oath as ministers of state. In the expansion, BJP got 19 ministerial berths, followed by 11 for Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and 9 for Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party. Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to the new ministers at the Raj Bhavan. On the first day of the special three-day session of the Maharashtra Assembly for oath-taking of the newly elected MLAs, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) MLAs on Saturday decided not to take oath in protest against alleged misuse of EVMs in the recently held polls and the state government not allowing mock polls using ballot paper at Markadwadi village in Malshiras Assembly constituency.
