Maharashtra Man Kills Teen After Dispute Over Instagram Post, Arrested

Wardha (Maharashtra): A man allegedly killed a 17-year-old boy in Maharashtra’s Wardha district after a dispute between them over an Instagram post, police said on Monday. The incident took place on Saturday at Pimpalgaon village in Hinganghat area. About a month back, the victim, Himanshu Chimney, and the accused, Manav Jumnake (21), put up an Instagram story inviting votes on it from social media users, an official from Hinganghat police station said without providing further details on the online post. The victim got more votes than the accused and the two later had a dispute over it, he said. The victim and the accused met on Saturday to discuss the issue. They had a verbal duel following which the accused man along with his friend allegedly attacked the teenager with a knife and killed him, the official said. Police arrested a 49-year-old man from Maharashtra’s Palghar district for allegedly murdering his driver. Palghar: Police on Wednesday arrested a 49-year-old man from Maharashtra’s Palghar district for allegedly murdering his driver, an official said. The body of the 42-year-old victim, Prabhukumar Lotan Jha, was found in the Tungareshwar area limits on Tuesday. Acting on inputs, police took into custody Jha’s employer, S V Singh. Police said Singh and Jha frequently argued as Jha would often report to work drunk. During one such argument, Singh smashed Jha’s head with an iron rod, killing him, the official added. Pune: Maharashtra BJP MLC Yogesh Tilekar’s uncle was allegedly abducted and killed by unidentified persons in Pune district on Monday, a police official said. The victim, Satish Wagh (55), was bundled into an SUV near Shewalwadi Chowk in Hadapsar area of Pune city by four to five persons when he was out on a morning walk, prompting police to form several teams to trace him. Wagh was found murdered near Yavat on Pune-Solapur Highway in Pune district, around 40 kilometres from the spot he was abducted, said Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil. “There were multiple injuries on his body. Several teams have fanned out to nab the accused. A team is at the spot to conduct panchnama,” Patil informed. Earlier in the day, a police official said Tilekar’s family didn’t receive any call for ransom nor had they raised suspicion on anyone. Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: The Maharashtra home department today (October 31) transferred 28 deputy superintendent of police and assistant commissioner of police rank officers across the state, including 15 from Mumbai. Assembly polls will be held in the state on November 20 (Wednesday), while results will be declared on November 23 (Saturday). ACP Mrityunjay Hiremath has been transferred as Kolhapur deputy superintendent of police (Dy SP), Shashikant Mane has been made Dy SP of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), while Kumud Kadam has been appointed as Dy SP of highway police in Nashik, an official said. Based on a complaint by the woman, the police on Sunday registered a case against accused Shyam Supatkar for rape, extortion and a few more charges under the Indian Penal Code. The woman told the police that she met the accused, who had created a fake profile in the name of Shyam Verma, on Facebook about four years ago.
