Transgender person, friend jump into Mahim creek after argument: Police | Mumbai News
A transgender person and his friend who allegedly jumped into Mahim creek Tuesday afternoon were not found after a search operation by the police and fire brigade till late evening. According to police, the transgender person, identified as Irshad Asif Shaikh (22), and Kalandar Altaf Khan (20)— both residents of Nargis Dutt Nagar in Bandra (west) — were engaged in an argument on the creek bridge located between Mahim and Bandra. During the argument, Irshad allegedly jumped into the water, and Khan took the plunge to rescue him. Bystanders noticed the incident and informed the police. Police officials from Bandra and Mahim reached the spot and the fire brigade was alerted. A senior police officer said, “The NDRF was also informed and a search operation was undertaken.” The Mahim police informed the family members of Shaikh and Khan, and recorded their statements.
