India’s top doubles pairs suffered a quarterfinal exit at the 2026 WTT US Smash in Los Angeles on Wednesday, bringing their campaign in the year’s second WTT Grand Smash to an end. Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah became the first Indian paddlers to reach the semi-finals of a WTT Grand Smash event as they registered a quarter-finals win at the 2026 WTT Singapore Smash on Wednesday. The Indian duo missed a big chance of qualifying for their first-ever semifinal at a WTT Grand Smash tournament, losing a tight five-game (2-3) affair to fourth-seeded pair, 11-5, 11-6, 3-11, 5-11, 10-12. Advantage squandered Manav and Manush, playing against the French pairing of Florian Bourrassaud and Esteban Dorr, started the game brilliantly. The Indian men’s doubles pair of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah, on Thursday, bowed out of the semi-finals of the WTT Star Contender Doha. The pair from Gujarat went down 9-11, 11-7, 1-11, 11-8, 7-11 in a closely fought battle against second seeds Xu Yingbin and Xiang Peng of China. Thakkar and Shah, ranked 10th in the world, were the third seeded men’s doubles pair in the competition.
