A high-level meeting on security-related issues pertaining to the India-Bangladesh border was held at the official residence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha in Agartala on Friday. Speaking to indianexpress.com, an official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, “A meeting of various security forces was held at the official residence of Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to discuss enhanced surveillance along the India-Bangladesh border. The closed-door meeting lasted for more than an hour. Tripura CM proposes to Centre Rs 969-crore projects to attain self-sufficiency in milk, meat production | India News

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has proposed to the Centre projects worth Rs 969 crore to make the northeastern state self-sufficient in the production of milk, eggs, fish and meat, a release issued by the CMO said. Saha made the proposals during a virtual meeting of the DoNER Ministry’s High-Level Task Force on attaining self-sufficiency in milk, eggs, meat, and fish production in which chief ministers of the northeastern states and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took part on Wednesday. Saha said milk production in Tripura in the 2023-24 fiscal was 2.47 lakh metric tonnes, while the demand was 2.82 lakh metric tonnes, reflecting a gap of 0.35 lakh metric tonnes. He said reopening murder cases is possible as there have been numerous instances of it in the past. After chairing a law and order review meeting at the police headquarters here, Dr. Saha said, “This is not an impossible task. The Matri Setu built over river Feni connecting South Tripura’s Sabroom with Bangladesh’s Ramgarh was jointly inaugurated on March 9, 2021 and Agartala- Nischintapur (Indian part of Agartala-Akhaura rail link) was inaugurated on November 1, 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina.
