Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese, often regarded as the greatest film directors of his generation, has joined Neeraj Ghaywan‘s second feature, Homebound, as an executive producer. Scorsese has been involved with the project since the scripting stage, and provided notes while it was being edited. Homebound has been selected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Ghaywan said on social media that he is still ‘in disbelief’ over the collaboration. Scorsese is known to champion voices from world cinema. With this, Ghaywan joins Chaitanya Tamhane in bringing on board a legendary mentor to support their deeply Indian project. Tamhane’s second feature, The Disciple, was executive produced by Alfonso Cuaron. In a statement, Scorsese said, “I have seen Neeraj’s first film Masaan in 2015 and I loved it, so when Melita Toscan du Plantier sent me the project of his second film, I was curious.
