Madhavan’s Dhurandhar opening scene really happened: Ajit Doval recalls when IC 814 hostages didn’t respond to ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ | Bollywood News

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, which is one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year, opens with a scene from the IC814 hijacking. The scene starts with R Madhavan’s Ajay Sanyal (a supposed stand-in for Ajit Doval) walking into the aircraft after they are done negotiating with the hijackers. Ajay talks to the hostages and promises them their freedom, but as he yells out ‘Bharat Mata Ki…’, the hostages don’t respond with ‘Jai’. He turns around and finds out that the hijacker has a gun pointing towards the hostages, which is presumably making them scared. The crisis gets resolved, and Ajay Sanyal walks away disappointed with the state of affairs. As per Ajit Doval, some of these events actually took place during the hijacking, and he spoke about the same in a 2009 interview. Talking to Zee News in 2009, Ajit shared that the Indian authorities found themselves in a “vulnerable” position as they negotiated with the hijackers in Kandahar. The hijackers were aware that they were under pressure, and so, they kept pressing on their …

The All India Lawyers’ Union has urged the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court to initiate stringent action against those responsible for displaying the portrait of Bharat Mata during a programme attended by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at the high court auditorium on Tuesday. The display of the portrait of Bharat Mata at the event organised by the Bharatheeya Abhibhashaka Parishad affiliated to the Sangh Parivar was a challenge to the Constitution. The incident showed attempts to saffronise even the venue of the higher echelons of judiciary, alleged C.M. Nazar, secretary of the High Court unit of the union, in a communication. The union condemned the use of a court venue for the event attended by the Governor, who had earlier tried to initiate extreme Hindutva reforms at Raj Bhavan. Such incidents will erode confidence in the secular credentials of the judiciary, it said. The High Court lawyers’ committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India also condemned the incident.
