BCCI Left Red-Faced After 156.7 Kmph Star Mayank Yadav Gets Ruled Out Of IPL After Injury Resurfaces For 3rd Time

File photo of Mayank Yadav© BCI/IPL The BCCI Centre of Excellence (erstwhile NCA) was left severely embarrassed after India’s fastest bowler Mayank Yadav suffered yet another breakdown as a back injury ruled him out of the remainder of the IPL. “Yadav sustained a back injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the season,” the IPL media release stated. New Zealand’s William O Rourke will replace him in Lucknow Super Giants for the rest of the tournament. Mayank, who made a comeback after six months of intense rehabilitation under the Sports Science and Medical team at the COE, played two matches and gave away 100 runs in eight overs taking just two wickets. His speed had dropped by at least 15 kmph and from a side-on bowler, he had become a chest-on operator after re-modelling his action. For the record, Mayank has played nine T20 games between March 30, 2024 and May 4, 2025, which is precisely 13 months and four days. In these nine games, he played four T20s for Lucknow …

“Instead Of Questioning…”: Rishabh Pant’s Retort When Asked About Loss vs MI

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant defended his decision to bowl first in hot and humid conditions in an afternoon start at the Wankhede Stadium as his team slumped to a 54-run defeat in Match 45 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday. The Mumbai batters capitalised on the pitch that looked good for batting and posted 215/7, riding on half-centuries by Ryan Rickelton (58) and Suryakumar Yadav (54). With the LSG batters scorched and cooked up by the hot and humid conditions, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult produced fiery spells to claim 4-22 and 3-20 to bowl out the visitors for 161 in 20 overs and secured MI’s fifth straight win. This was Mumbai’s 150th win in IPL history, the first to reach this milestone, and also the first for the five-time champions over LSG in the league phase. But Pant said his decision to bowl first did not impact the match as they were outplayed by a side that played better. “It (bowling first) was the right decision for us, …

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) received a major boost as the fast bowler Mayank Yadav has joined the squad. The 22-year-old pacer is likely to be available for LSG’s next game against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. LSG announced Mayank’s return with a special video on their social media, accompanied by the caption, “Mayank Yadav is back”. Mayank has been sidelined with a back injury and was close to returning earlier this season before a freak toe injury — sustained after stubbing it against his bed — caused an infection that further delayed his comeback. The young pacer, who was out of action since his international debut last year, where he featured in three T20Is against Bangladesh at home, missed the entire domestic season and underwent rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Earlier, LSG head coach Justin Langer sounded upbeat about Mayank’s recovery and said, “Mayank is up and running, which is really great for Indian cricket and for the IPL. I saw some video of him bowling yesterday at the …

While the franchise retained Mayank for Rs 11 crore, the fast bowler was not fit for the new season and had to continue his recovery at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. However, according to the report, he has received the green signal and the decision to play him in the IPL will now rest on the franchise. “Top sources have informed India Today that he is fit to play, but the final call will rest with the LSG coaching staff, who will be monitoring the player closely,” the report stated.
