Commuters across the Pune Metropolitan Region may soon experience smoother and faster travel, with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Friday signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (MahaRail) to speed up the construction of railway overbridges and underpasses. The move is expected to reduce long traffic jams at railway crossings, save travel time and fuel, and improve road connectivity in several growing suburbs. The agreement aims to ensure the speedy and quality construction of Railway Overbridges (ROBs) and Railway Underpasses (RUBs) within the PMRDA jurisdiction, helping address several long-pending traffic bottlenecks in the region. Currently, 442 ‘Passport Seva Kendras’ are operational and the number will be increased to 600 in the next five years. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was renewed for five years between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Posts for the continued accessibility of passport services through the Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs). In a step to ensure to protect land from being encroached and to bring clarity to the status of land for land-owning agencies in the Capital, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Survey of India Thursday to conduct drone surveys. The initiative, headed by L-G V K Saxena, will provide real-time high-resolution data and aims to determine the current status of land in the capital. A statement from the L-G’s office read, “The survey to be undertaken now will provide immense advantages such as high level of data accuracy and high-resolution images obtained through drones flying over identified areas.
