Two years after the union cabinet approved the CITIIS (city investments to innovate, integrate & sustain) 2.0 programme supported by multilateral institutions under the Smart Cities Mission, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Centre and the states was signed on Monday during the inaugural session of the 12th Regional 3R (reduce, reuse and recycle) and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific in Jaipur. In a step to ensure to protect land from being encroached and to bring clarity to the status of land for land-owning agencies in the Capital, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Survey of India Thursday to conduct drone surveys. The initiative, headed by L-G V K Saxena, will provide real-time high-resolution data and aims to determine the current status of land in the capital. A statement from the L-G’s office read, “The survey to be undertaken now will provide immense advantages such as high level of data accuracy and high-resolution images obtained through drones flying over identified areas.
