Odisha train accident: A major tragedy was averted on Monday when a goods train collided with an ambulance while it was crossing the railway tracks in the Rayagada district of Odisha. The train dragged the ambulance for nearly 100 metres before coming to a halt. The incident occurred on the Raigarh-Malkangiri-Koraput railway line in Odisha, between Shikarpai and Bhalumaska stations in the Kalyansinghpur block. The ambulance was crossing the tracks via an unauthorised passage when the goods hit the train. Pune: Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, the man allegedly responsible for the rape of a 26-year-old woman in Pune, is a history sheeter, who was out on bail, the police have said. A manhunt is on in the city since the young woman reported the rape earlier today. The police have deployed eight teams and sniffer dogs. Gade has at least six cases of theft, robbery, and chain-snatching registered against him in Pune and the adjoining Ahilyanagar district. Arrested for a robbery, he has been out on bail since 2019, reported news agency Press Trust of India, quoting unnamed officials. Cases have been registered against him in the Shikrapur and Shirur police station areas in Pune district. He also faces charges in Ahilyanagar district. As recently as last year, a theft case was lodged against him in Pune. A Pune police team has already questioned his brother to ascertain his whereabouts. Pune: A 26-year-old woman was raped inside a bus early Tuesday morning – while it was parked in the middle of Pune’s busy Swargate Bus Stand and around 100 metres from a police station. The accused has been named as Dattatraya Ramdas – he was identified through a CCTV feed – but has not yet been arrested. The police have formed eight special teams, and deployed a canine sniffer unit, to track him down. Ramdas, 36, already has a criminal record. The bus in which the young woman – a domestic worker travelling to her home village of Phaltan in Satara district – was raped has been vandalised, the police also said. According to the police, the crime took place sometime between 5.45am and 6.30am. Jhansi: A speeding pick-up truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi rammed into a car and then crashed into a bike that was crossing over from the wrong side, flinging the rider in the air and dragging the two-wheeler along the road for some 100 metres. The bike rider sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment, sources said. The accident took place under Navabad police station area but only the part where the biker was hit by the pick-up truck was recorded on CCTV. Footage of the accident shared by police showed the speeding pick-up vehicle striking the two-wheeler that was crossing over from the wrong side.
