ChatGPT Atlas Shuts Down Aug. 9: What Users Must Save Before Migrating

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Atlas browser is scheduled to stop working on Aug. 9, 2026, leaving users little time to preserve browser data and test a replacement. Bookmarks will not transfer automatically, while open tabs and browsing history may not carry over. The shutdown affects individuals who use Atlas for research and agentic browsing, along with IT teams responsible for managed devices and approved AI tools. OpenAI is moving browser-based agentic capabilities into ChatGPT and Codex, but organizations should verify data, permissions, and essential workflows before uninstalling Atlas. Preserve browser data before the deadline Under OpenAI’s Atlas migration guidance, users should export bookmarks as an HTML file and import them into another browser. Important tabs and pages from browsing history should also be bookmarked or recorded separately. Atlas will provide cookie-export options where available, but cookie and session files should be treated as sensitive because they may provide access to authenticated accounts. Cookies and active sessions cannot be imported directly into another browser, so users should expect to sign in again and complete multifactor authentication. ChatGPT conversations …

Delay in migrating to online mode impacting timely RTI replies

Delay in migrating to online mode impacting timely RTI replies

Expressing concern over the considerable delay in providing replies to petitions filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005, the Tamil Nadu Information Commission has urged the State government to facilitate online management of RTI applications/responses in all the Departments of Secretariat, offices of the Heads of Departments and District Collectorates. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the then Chief Information Commissioner said that the process of filing RTI petitions through online mode had commenced, though not effectively, in the Departments of Secretariat and some District Collectorates. However, there was a lot of confusion in that process which in turn caused considerable delay in furnishing replies by the Public Information Officers to the petitioners.  During the enquiry before the Commission, the PIOs had expressed difficulty in handling the RTI petitions online. “This requires urgent attention so that the prescribed time limit of 30 days in the RTI Act for furnishing of reply by the PIOs can be strictly adhered to,” the then CIC Md. Shakeel Akhter said in his letter sent days before his …

Opinion: Is the theatre-going audience migrating to OTT? Analysing an average cinegoer

he rise of OTT platforms has transformed how audiences consume entertainment, offering convenience, variety, and affordability at the click of a button. Yet, despite the undeniable pull of streaming services, the prestige of a big-screen experience is something that shall always remain. For the average cinegoer, theatre-going is less about just watching a film and more about the experience. It is somewhat similar to a cultural outing that’s treated like a picnic or a festival. In 2025, as Indian cinema continues to evolve alongside Hollywood releases, the question remains that is the theatre audience truly migrating to OTT, or is the cinema experience too cherished to fade? The theatre-going experience carries a prestige that OTT platforms struggle to replicate. Visiting a cinema involves effort. There’s planning, travel, and often a financial commitment, which elevates its perceived value. Unlike the ease of streaming a film on a phone or TV, the act of dressing up, booking tickets, and immersing oneself in a larger-than-life screen fosters a sense of occasion. This effort elevates the experience, leaving a …
