Karnataka to set up urban policing innovation centre to future-proof city policing: Home Minister Priyank Kharge

The proposal was discussed during a detailed review meeting with senior police officers and expert advisory groups to examine the framework for the proposed centre, which aims to prepare the State’s urban police force for emerging challenges. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Kharge said rapid urbanisation has brought significant changes in the nature of crime, public safety concerns and traffic management, making it essential to adopt advanced technological solutions and institutionalise innovation within the policing system. The proposed centre will focus on research, innovation and technology development to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of urban policing. It will leverage emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, smart surveillance systems and digital platforms to improve policing capabilities and support evidence-based decision-making. Separately in his address, the Union Minister also stated that India has added non-fossil capacity of more than 300 gigawatts (GW) a decade ago and is “on path to cross 500 GW capacity by 2030”.   Mr. Joshi also reiterated that the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has more than 50 lakh beneficiaries with one lakh beneficiaries added every six days.   The flagship scheme seeks to provide free electricity to households by facilitating the installation of rooftop …

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Thursday dismissed claims that the government plans to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), saying there is no such proposal under consideration and urging people not to spread misinformation about aviation safety, reported the PTI. His remarks came after former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the government was planning to mix ethanol with ATF, raising concerns over flight safety. In a post on X, Naidu described the claims as “completely false and irresponsible”. He said there is no proposal to blend ethanol with aviation fuel and warned that spreading incorrect information about aviation safety could create unnecessary anxiety among air travellers. Satheesan said on Wednesday. At a post-Cabinet press briefing here, Mr. Satheesan said it has been a long-standing complaint of the fishers that the funds released under Punargeham were insufficient. One of the flagship projects of the previous CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, Punargeham was aimed at relocating fishermen families from within 50 meters of the tidal line. The project was envisioned to resettle families residing in areas exposed to coastal erosion.
