“Pressure”: Pakistan Great Pinpoints Reason Behind India’s ICC Trophy Drought

India’s struggle in the mega tournaments has not been hidden from the world and ahead of the blockbuster T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA, former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq opined that the team is lacking behind in finishing strong in the last few years at the ICC events while hailing the current team as “skillful” with “powerful bowling lineup”. In last year’s ODI World Cup, India remained unbeaten in the tournament until bowing down against Australia in the summit clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India have not won any ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni. They missed out on World Test Championship triumphs on two occasions in the span of three years. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, Men in Blue faced a defeat at the hands of England in the semifinal to end their campaign. Former Pakistan batter credited India’s current pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami while also praising the quality of Indian cricket. “It’s …

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has opened up on star batter Virat Kohli‘s form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The former batter praised Kohli for his strong mentality, especially in crunch games against the best teams in the world. Amid debate over his strike-rate and batting intent in IPL 2024, Misbah threw his weight behind the RCB icon, and explained what makes Kohli a match-winner. Kohli is leading run-getter in this season’s IPL so far, amassing 661 runs at a strike rate of 155.16 from 13 matches. Despite the IPL 2024 Orange Cap sitting on his head, experts have often criticised Kohli for his batting intent. Even former India captain Sunil Gavaskar questioned his strike-rate after RCB had lost seven of their first eight league matches. However, Misbah refused to side with the critics as he praise Kohli for putting up outstanding numbers every season. “Virat Kohli performed well in all the matches, against many teams, and especially against Pakistan. He played such an innings at a crucial stage that he caused …

“Coaches Don’t Want To Work With PCB…”: Ex-Pakistan Captain’s Shocking Revelation

Former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq feels that due to uncertainty in the PCB and its short-sightedness, foreigners and even local coaches don’t want to work with the country’s cricket board. Misbah, who has worked as head coach and also chief selector of the Pakistan team between 2019 and 2021, lamented that in Pakistan cricket the players and coaches were sacked based on one or two series or because of a change in the top management of the board. “If you look at the policies of the board leave alone foreign coaches I don’t think even our local coaches want to work with the PCB,” he told the media in Karachi. Misbah is coaching the Hyderabad franchise which has qualified for the ongoing Sindh Premier League in the city. “Pakistan cricket should not be run in such a haphazard manner and we need to have long term plans for the team management, selectors and grooming of players. Unfortunately in Pakistan a change in the board leadership changes everything,” he said. Misbah said that …

And from what I see Babar Azam’s position in the team is being weakened,” Misbah told reporters in Lahore on Tuesday. Misbah, who was told to resign by former chairman Ramiz Raja as head coach in September 2021 although he had a three-year contract with the board, said that one can see this easily by watching the press conferences of Babar. “Look at some of the questions being asked to him what do they indicate he is being weakened as a captain and I am afraid that will have adverse effects on the team’s dressing room.” Misbah, who held the all powerful positions of head coach and chief selector in 2019-2020, said if the cricket board …
