Sony is making a Horizon MMO — here’s the video and details

The new game is called Horizon Steel Frontiers, and Sony and the Korean video game company NCSoft are working on it together. Based on a more than 10-minute video we’ve seen featuring a mix of cinematic and pre-alpha gameplay footage as well as developer interviews, the game will focus strongly on fighting the Horizon series’ giant mechanical beasts and being able to do so with other people. Sony and a PR company representing NCSoft didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment. The Verge initially spotted promotional art for Steel Frontiers on a website used to share game assets that media and influencers are approved to use. The art seems to have been posted early, perhaps ahead of an announcement at the G-Star 2025 event in Korea later tonight. The website also included a link to a Google Drive with open access that contained the video. According to that website, Steel Frontiers will be available on PC, iOS, and Android. Footage from the video shows players taking on beasts and navigating through lush natural environments …

The Day Before, an open-world zombie survival MMO, experienced a dramatic series of events resulting in its developer closing down four days after the game’s launch. Initial reviews were not great. Though billed as a survival MMO, players remarked that it was more like an extraction shooter but with mediocre loot. Players to team up with were sparse, enemies to shoot were even more sparse, and there were numerous complaints about bugs, crashes, and server issues. On launch day, Fntastic, the game’s developer, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the game’s North American servers were working but filling too quickly. The next day, Fntastic wrote that it was working on a “huge update” that would implement fixes before going radio silent for three days as negative reviews piled up. However, it doesn’t seem like that fix ever went through because, on December 11th, the developers posted on X that The Day Before was a financial failure, and as a result, Fntastic would be closing down. “Today, we announce the closure of Fntastic studio,” the message …
