According to official orders issued by the District and Sessions Judge, an email received on June 1 warned of a possible bomb blast in the judicial court complexes between June 3 and June 5. Acting on the threat, court authorities imposed strict precautionary measures and restricted public access to all court premises under the SAS Nagar Sessions Division. 20 passengers sustained injuries after a private bus going from Manali to Delhi overturned near Chhat Light Chowk in Zirakpur early Friday morning following a collision with a truck. A youth also got trapped under the bus and suffered a fracture in his arm. The injured were rushed to Dera Bassi civil hospital, while several seriously injured passengers were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector-3 for further treatment. Calling the move “unjust”, Sucha Singh Kalaur, president of the Sector 76-80 Plot Allotment Sangharsh Committee on Thursday, submitted a representation to the GMADA Chief Administrator, demanding that such allottees be refunded the excess amount without any interest deductions. She said on April 7, GMADA, following a Punjab Cabinet decision, reduced the additional price from Rs 3,164 per square metre to Rs 2,216 per square metre and ordered issuance of fresh demand notices.
