“Let Babar Azam Play…”: Ex-Pakistan Captain Sends Urgent Request To PCB Ahead Of Champions Trophy

Pakistan suffered defeat in the final of the tri-nation series at the hands of New Zealand, just five days before the two teams square off again in the opening match of Champions Trophy 2025. It was Pakistan’s second defeat to New Zealand in the tri-nation series, and once again saw concern rise regarding Pakistan’s opening. In particular, former Pakistan cricketers have now spoken up about Babar Azam‘s new role as an opener. The likes of Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Hafeez – both members of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy-winning side – criticising the decision to make Babar open. Babar has been promoted to open the batting following an injury to young 22-year-old opener Saim Ayub and the poor form of Abdullah Shafique. However, Babar hasn’t been able to fire either. Babar has failed to cross 30 in each of his three innings in the tri-nation series, and the calls to send him back to No. 3 have only increased. Former pacer Mohammad Amir has mentioned that Babar must be allowed to utilise his strengths. …

“Exposed Many Faces”: Ex-Captain Mohammad Hafeez’s Explosive Tweet As Pakistan Complete Series Turnaround vs England

Former Pakistan cricket captain Mohammad Hafeez did not hold back his feelings as Pakistan completed a stunning comeback and sealed a 2-1 home series win against England. Pakistan rode on the performances of spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali — two players who had been brought back into the side in the middle of the series — to defeat England. Hafeez made a tweet that was cryptic in nature as he spoke about ‘exposing faces’. While it is unclear as to whom the tweet was directed at, fans interpreted that it may be something to do with star Pakistan batter Babar Azam, who was dropped mid-series. “Two faces, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, with star impactful performances brought home series win for Pakistan after more than three years. More importantly, their performances exposed many faces,” posted Hafeez on X. “#RIP Pakistan Domestic Cricket”: Ex Star Lashes Out As Mohammad Amir Is Picked For T20I Series

These are some interesting times in Pakistan cricket. After the re-appointment of Babar Azam for the T20I series, the Pakistan Cricket Board has made some interesting choices for the T20I series against New Zealand. Having reversed their decisions of retiring from international cricket, fast bowler Muhammad Amir and left-arm spinner Imad Wasim were recalled to the 17-member Pakistan squad for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting April 18. The 10-day series will feature three games in Rawalpindi and two games in Lahore. Amir, who was convicted for spot-fixing charges and also briefly did jail time in England, had last played international cricket in 2020 before calling it quits to ply his trade in T20 leagues. He retired from international cricket due to his differences with erstwhile coaches Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis. Imad, a spin all rounder had retired from international cricket in November 2023 but took back his retirement after persuasion from the board and selectors after he had a productive Pakistan Super League in which the team won the title. …

Having seen his tenure as Pakistan’s team director ending early, Hafeez has now revealed the ‘tough conversation’ he had with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan during his time in charge. Babar couldn’t deliver his best with the bat in the ODI World Cup and the same trend followed on the tour of Australia and New Zealand too. Hafeez revealed that he asked Babar to bat at the No. 3 spot for the betterment of the team but it took him two months to convince the former skipper to do so. “It took me about …

Criticised Over Decision To Rest Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan Team Director Mohammad Hafeez Clarifies

Muhammad Hafeez, Director of the Pakistan team, revealed that Shaheen Shah Afridi approached him with a request to take a break from the third and final Test against Australia at Sydney, contrary to the belief that it was the team management’s decision to rest the left-arm pacer. Australia defeated Pakistan by eight wickets at SCG on Saturday to complete a 3-0 series win. “We took the decision to rest Shaheen and manage his workload because we didn’t want his body to be adversely affected,” Hafeez said after the third Test against Australia. The decision to rest Afridi for the final Test came as a surprise to the Pakistani cricket community. Pakistan fast bowling greats, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, also tore into the team management for their decision to rest Afridi for the Test. In the wake of the hue and cry on the first day of the Sydney Test, Afridi had told the host broadcasters that the team management and support staff felt he should rest from the match.
