The Indo-American duo of Rohan Bopanna and Ben Shelton continued their good form to reach the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo ATP Masters 1000 event at Monte Carlo Country Club, France, on Wednesday. Rohan and his younger partner, Shelton, came from behind to get the better of the third seeded Italian pair of Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli in three sets (2-6, 7-6, 10-7) in an hour and 38 minutes. Indian veteran Rohan Bopanna and partner Ben Shelton advanced to the men’s doubles round of 16 at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters ATP 1000 event on Sunday. Bopanna and Shelton got the better of Francisco Cerundolo and Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 7-5 in straight sets in the opening round of the competition. The Indo-American pair did not have the best of starts as they were broken in just their second serve in the third game of the first set. They, however, bounced back to break Cerundolo and Tabilo in the next game to equalise at 2-2. The two pairs held their serves for the next three games before Bopanna-Shelton broke again to take a 5-3 lead. They then held their serve next to pocket the opening set 6-3 in 27 minutes. India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden lost their round of 16 men’s doubles match to Mate Pavic of Croatia and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador at the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday. They lost 3-6 6-7 (6-8). Bopanna and Ebden fell behind quickly in the first set and could not recover from there. The Indo-Australian combo seemed to make a comeback of sorts in the second set but their opponents played very well to seal the issue in the tie-breaker. Nagal match suspended owing to rain Indian tennis ace Sumit Nagal was trailing in his second round men’s singles match against Holger Rune of Denmark, when rain led to a suspension of the contest.
