MotoGP postpones Qatar Grand Prix due to Middle East conflict | Motor-sport News

The Qatar Grand Prix, which was supposed to be the fourth round of the 2026 championship, was scheduled for April 10-12. Confirming this, the organisers of MotoGP said in a statement on their website that the decision was been taken in close coordination with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the Promoter and the local authorities in Qatar, with the primary objective of ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and highest‑quality delivery of the event for all participants and attendees. Multiple sources told Reuters an announcement, seen within the sport as just a matter of time, was expected by Monday at the latest with a March 20 ⁠deadline looming ​for freight that has to be transported to Bahrain for logistical reasons. Sky Sports television, which has the broadcasting rights in Britain where most of the 11 teams are based, said it understood the races would be called off by Sunday night. UP Govt signs MoU to revive MotoGP in India

The Uttar Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AVW Global to revive international motorcycle racing at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). The agreement, signed by the State Transformation Commission, aims to bring MotoGP back, as well as the Asia Road Racing Championship, to the iconic track in Greater Noida. AVW Global is a motorsport events and advisory company led by former MotoGP rider Karel Abraham and and CEO Amit Sandill. AVW Global will handle the technical and operational aspects. “[India is] a huge market with huge potential, not only to bring businesses here and get sponsors, but also to raise young talent for the future,” Abraham said. “That is also something that the GP here will help educate. [It] will help train and raise new talent from India that might be racing in MotoGP [in the future]. I think that is something that the championship needs as well,” he added. The Australian KTM star was involved in a dramatic incident involving teammate Brad Binder and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo on turn two of the opening lap at Sepang on Sunday. All three riders came off with Miller’s head appearing to hit the back of Quartararo’s bike. The Indian Grand Prix was earlier scheduled to be held in September but was deferred to March 2025. Now, it can only be held in the early stages of 2026. “The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports confirm that the Indian Grand Prix will be included on the 2026 FIM MotoGP calendar, moving to become a reserve event for 2025,” MotoGP said in a statement. “Operational circumstances have obliged the event to be delayed from its initial slot near the start of the 2025 calendar.
