New Delhi: Mohan Bisht, the newly elected MLA of Delhi’s Mustafabad, the area that bore the brunt of the 2020 riots, has declared that the name of the constituency will be changed to Shiv Puri or Shiv Vihar, in view of the majority of the Hindu population there.   Asked what is the problem with Mustafabad, he told NDTV, “What is their problem if the name is changed? On the one hand there are 58 per cent and 42 per cent on the other. Whom should we respect? ”  Asked what is the urgency to change the name of a place that is not much-frequented and where autos and cabs do not run, he said, “Autos will run and so will cabs. Of Six Seats In 2020 Riot-Hit Northeast Delhi, BJP, AAP Win Three Each

New Delhi: Six constituencies of northeast Delhi affected by the 2020 riots witnessed a close contest between the BJP and AAP, with both parties winning three seats each. In Seelampur, AAP’s Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad defeated the BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma by a margin of 42,477 votes. Ahmad received 59.21 per cent of the votes polls while Sharma got 27.38 per cent of the vote share. While the Congress’ Abdul Rehman, who was the sitting MLA from the seat but had switched sides after being denied ticket by AAP, got only 12.4 per cent votes. Besides Seelampur, AAP was victorious in Babarpur and Gokalpur while the BJP won Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar and Ghonda. AAP’s Delhi convenor and minister in Delhi government Gopal Rai retained his Babarpur seat by a margin of 18,994 votes. He got 53.19 per cent vote share while his opponent, the BJP’s Anil Kumar Vashisht got 39.33 per cent of the votes polled in the seat. Mustafabad (Delhi) Assembly Election Results 2025 Live: The Mustafabad Assembly constituency of Delhi went to polls on February 05, 2025. The candidates in fray from the Mustafabad constituency are – Adeel Ahmad Khan of the AAP, Mohan Singh Bisht of the BJP and Ali Mehdi of the INC. In the last Assembly elections, the AAP’s Haji Yunus won by a margin of 20704 votes. The BJP’s Jagdish Pradhan was the runner up securing 78146 votes. Image Source : ANI BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht and his party colleague Kapil Mishra Delhi Assembly Election 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Mohan Singh Bisht from the Mustafabad constituency after denying him a ticket for Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar. The announcement of a ticket given to Bisht comes hours after he publically expressed his disappointment over Mishra’s name including in the second candidates’ list from his constituency. Later, a senior party leader claimed he was pacified after a meeting with BJP chief JP Nadda. Earlier in the day Bisht said that the party’s decision to replace him with Mishra was “wrong” and its consequences will be visible after voting on February 5. “You have challenged the ‘samaj’ (his Uttarakhandi community), not Mohan Singh Bisht. The BJP will lose at least 8-10 seats because of this decision, including Karawal Nagar, Burari, Mustafabad and Gokalpuri,” Bisht warned.
