‘Traumatised’ Bangladesh Star Nahid Rana Withdraws From Pakistan Tour After Border Tension With India: Report

Bangladesh tearaway Nahid Rana is among the three members to withdraw from their upcoming tour of Pakistan, which is set to kick off next week at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) cricket operations chairman, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, there is a possibility that Nahid could have withdrawn from the squad, considering the difficult situation he faced when trying to leave Pakistan earlier this month due to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Nahid was a part of Peshawar Zalmi’s squad when the players had to be withdrawn from the Pakistan Super League. Nahid’s national teammate, Rishad Hossain, was also a part of Zalmi’s squad, but he is touring with Bangladesh. Fahim revealed that most of the players were hesitant to tour Pakistan but changed their minds after most of the Bangladesh players decided to embark on the three-match T20I series. “What Nahid Rana and Rishad faced recently, you can’t blame them for being traumatised. Which is probably why Rana has withdrawn from the tour. Among the coaching …

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who was playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, has shared frightening ordeal amid the escalated tension between the nation and India. He revealed that the overseas players were terrified as they tried to move out of Pakistan. The spinner opened up after making it to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from where the players took connecting flights to reach their respective homes. Notably, the PSL 2025 was suspended hours after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to postpone the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for a week. “Foreign players like Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell, Kushal Perera, David Wiese, Tom Curran… all of them were so frightened… Landing in Dubai, Mitchell told me that he would never go to Pakistan again, especially in this kind of scenario. Overall, they all were horrified,” Rishad told reporters after reaching Dubai. ‘Looks like he’s her on vacation… Na batting ho rahi, na bowling’

Wasim Akram slammed Bangladesh veteran Mahmudullah for his performance against New Zealand in the Champions trophy game on Monday where Bangladesh tasted defeat by five wickets. Mahmudullah was out for four runs after facing 14 balls in the first innings. He threw away his wicket against Michael Bracewell after going for a big shot and not managing to connect. The ball landed in the hands of Will O’Rourke. To make matters worse, he also spilled an easy catch of Rachin Ravindra at mid on on 105. He did redeem himself with a run out of Tom Latham, but by then, the matter was already put to bed. Story continues below this ad While talking about Bangladesh’s effort in the field, where they were sloppy, Akram said: “Would you call them unlucky?” Then training his gun on Mahmudullah: “That was a sitter! Mahmudullah lagda hai chhuti de aaya hai (Mahmudullah looks like he has come here on vacation). Na batting ho rahi, na bowling (He’s unable to bat or bowl),” said Akram about the spilled catch. …

At his pre-match press conference before the big game against India, Bangladesh cricket team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto heaped praise on his pace attack. Then he spoke about 22-year-old Nahid Rana, who has not played too many games for Bangladesh, but is already causing waves. “We have struggled in the past when it comes to fast bowling. But we have a good attack now and as a captain it makes me excited to see our bowlers bowl fast. They are in good form…. Hopefully they will be able to put Indians under pressure,” Shanto said. “Rana played one Test against India and he has the experience. He is not someone who looks at the opponent, but is more focused on execution. Champions Trophy: India left to rue dropped chances as Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy dig Bangladesh out of hole | Cricket News

The Indian team were left to rue two important dropped catches with Bangladesh batters Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy made the most of their second lives, steadying the Bangladesh innings after the team was down to 35/5 at one point in the match. Ali and Hridoy were both dropped at low scores and have since made the Men in Blue pay with respective half centuries. The first dropped catch came in the 9th over when Jaker had just come out to bat and was facing Axar Patel who was on a hattrick after sending back Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in back to back deliveries. With three slips in place, Jaker got an outside edge and the ball went straight to Rohit who was standing in the 1st slip. It came at him at a very comfortable height but Rohit dropped an absolute dolly and beat the ground in frustration. The second miss was in the 20th over when Hridoy tried a drive down the ground and the ball sailed straight to Hardik Pandya at …

‘Upbeat’ Bangladesh captain Shanto confident about home-like conditions to help his team against India in Champions Trophy | Cricket News

On Wednesday as Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto sat for his first media briefing ahead of the Champions Trophy, he spent almost half it answering about their pacers. Out of those a majority were around Nahid Rana, their first 150kmph fast bowler, whose workload is the single most topic of discussion among cricket nerds back home. Shanto would give assurance that Rana is as excited and waiting to have a go against India’s top-order. But not until they saw Rana at the ICC Academy nets did there was a collective sigh of relief. Of the eight teams in the Champions Trophy that also includes Afghanistan, which is making its maiden appearance in the tournament, it is Bangladesh that start as rank outsiders. Ranked No 9 in the rankings, they just sneaked into the tournament on the expense of Sri Lanka via better run-rate at the 2023 World Cup. For the first time since 2007, Bangladesh have arrived for an ICC event sans Shakib Al Hasan, their estranged hero who was not so long ago the …

Nahid Rana’s maiden five-wicket haul floors West Indies on Day 3 | Cricket News

Bangladesh turned an 18-run first-innings lead against the West Indies into a competitive 211-run advantage on day three Monday of the second test at Sabina Park. Bangladesh defended its first-innings 164 by bowling out the host for 146 just after lunch. Fast bowler Nahid Rana took his maiden test five-for. As the pitch started to ease up in the sun, the Bangladeshis batted with unexpected boldness, especially Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shadman Islam, and grabbed a handy lead at 193-5 when bad light ended play. Captain Mehidy’s counterattacking 42 off 39 balls consolidated Bangladesh’s renewed confidence of tying the two-test series. First, Bangladesh had to overcome losing Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the first over after he edged Jayden Seales to the slips. Shahadat Hossain was dropped on 18 but the damage was limited. He scored only 10 more runs, 28 off 26 balls. That brought in Mehidy, who promoted himself from No. 7 in the order to No. 4, in part to protect No. 3 batter Mominul Haque, who stayed off the field because of …

“Ab Nahi Sikhega Toh…”: Ex-Pakistan Star’s Warning To Yashasvi Jaiswal

File photo of Yashasvi Jaiswal.© AFP The Indian cricket team put a dominating show against Bangladesh in the first Test between the sides in Chennai. The Rohit Sharma-led side eventually registered a massive 280-run victory in the game at MA Chidambaram Stadium. India ticked all the boxes; be it batting, bowling or fielding. While commenting on the hosts team’s performance, former Pakistan player Basit Ali praised the Indian side but warned its opener Yashasvi Jaiswal to not throw his wicket away. Jaiswal scored a gritty 56 off 118 in the first innings while he could score only 10 runs off 17 in the second innings. Nahid Rana dismissed the Indian opener in both the occasions. “Yashasvi Jaiswal played bonker shots in both the innings. For me, this match is zero for Jaiswal. He is my favourite as well. But usko seekhna chahiye, ab nahi sikhega toh kab seekhega (He should learn. If he doesn’t learn now when will he?),” said Basit Ali on his YouTube channel. In Jaiswal’s first innings, Bangladesh pacer Nahid …
