The exhibition will be open till May 10.  It features over 150 artists from across India and is curated by Lina Vincent, an art curator and historian. Renowned speed painter Vilas Nayak painted an image of a Yakshagana performer and UNESCO heritage site Hampi during the inauguration of Namma Art Bengaluru, at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat campus. : The first edition of ‘Namma Art Bengaluru,’ a national level art fair organised by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat (CKP) in association with the Department of Tourism, was inaugurated here on Wednesday. “The objective of the fair is to provide an opportunity to artists of Karnataka and other states. CKP not only shapes artists, but also gives them hope and exposure,” said H.K. Patil, Minister of Tourism, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, who inaugurated the fair. He also remarked that Karnataka is one of the states that gives prominence to handcrafted sculptures, and mentioned that art is to be preserved for the coming generations. According to a release by BMTC, this downtime is necessitated by the migration of the app’s data to the Karnataka State Data Centre (KSDC). Key features such as live bus tracking, journey planner, fare calculator, timetable information, and route tracking will not be accessible during this period. “BMTC is committed to enhancing its digital infrastructure to provide better services to the public, and this migration activity is part of that initiative,” BMTC stated in the release. The app’s unavailability is expected to impact daily commuters, particularly office-goers, school and college students, and Bengaluru airport travelers who rely on it to track buses. Regular users expressed concerns about the temporary disruption. 25 lakh Namma Metro passengers opt for QR code ticketing in Bengaluru

In a bid to further enhance QR code ticketing, BMRCL launched group tickets in November 2023, allowing up to six passengers to travel together while benefiting from a 5% discount on QR-based tickets. This initiative has also contributed to the rising popularity of QR ticketing among commuters, says officials. | Photo Credit: File photo An increasing number of passengers of Namma Metro are embracing QR code ticketing, moving away from traditional token purchases. Namma Metro launched QR code ticketing in November 2022. Over 25 lakhs users in Bengaluru opted for QR code tickets in the Namma Metro from January to July 2024. As of July 2024, the daily ridership on Namma Metro stands at around 8,00,000 passengers. Of these, 52.27% utilise smart cards while 20.7% prefer QR codes. Notably, the purchase of tokens has seen a decline, dropping from 15.9% in January 2024 to 20% by June 2024. The overall token usage has decreased from 32% to 27%, and smart card adoption has slightly fallen from 53% to 52.27%, according to the newsletters from the …

The Namma Yatri (NY) app officially launched cab services in Bengaluru on Tuesday. NY currently has 25,000 cab drivers on board. The app already offers cab services in Kolkata and Kochi. It has soft-launched cab services in Chennai and will soon soft-launch in Mumbai as well. According to the NY team, four to five thousand trips were recorded every day in Bengaluru since the soft launch last week. Built on the ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) network, the NY is committed to offering zero-commission and direct-to-driver model services in order to boost drivers’ income, improve vehicle maintenance, and elevate the customer experience. Since it operates on the ONDC network, the platform offers 100 per cent open data and open-source code. “Additionally, Namma Yatri takes the lead as the first app to embrace the latest Pricing Guidelines set forth by the Karnataka Government. This commitment ensures fair pricing practices, eliminating unjustified surge pricing during peak hours for the benefit of customers and drivers alike,” the NY said in a press release.
