India’s Ajith Narayana delivered a strong performance on Day 3 of the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad, securing two bronze medals in the men’s 71kg category on Thursday. With the result, Ajith became the first Indian male weightlifter in 15 years to win multiple medals in the same edition of the championships. The last Indian male lifter to achieve this feat was Katulu Ravi Kumar in 2011. Ajith had a difficult start to the competition in the snatch event. Justice J. Sathya Narayana Prasad Justice J. Sathya Narayana Prasad of the Madras High Court died in Chennai on Tuesday (May 6, 2025). He was 56 years old and 42nd in seniority among the present working strength of 63 judges in the High Court. According to sources, he complained of uneasiness at his official residence in Chennai on Tuesday evening and was rushed to a private hospital in the city before he breathed his last. A native of Minnal village near Arakkonam in the erstwhile North Arcot (presently Vellore) district, he was born at Thanjavur in March 15, 1969. His father R. Jaiprasad was a retired district and sessions judge. Justice Prasad had studied at Vorhees Higher Secondary School in Vellore before pursuing his under graduation in history at the Loyola College in Chennai. Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has said it has “become a fashion” in India to talk about artificial intelligence (AI) for everything, emphasising that most “so-called AI things are silly, odd programmes”. Speaking at a TiEcon Mumbai 2025 event on Wednesday, Mr Murthy said, “I think somehow it has become a fashion in India to talk of AI for everything. I have seen several normal, ordinary programmes being touted as AI.” Mr Murthy shared two fundamental principles of AI – machine learning and deep learning. Explaining machine learning, he said, it is “nothing but a large-scale correlation. Based on a large amount of data, it helps you predict.” Deep learning, he said, imitates human brain functioning.
