NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal Says He Will Be Inducted Into Maharashtra Cabinet On Tuesday

Mumbai: Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal today said he will be inducted into the Maharashtra cabinet headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday, marking his return to ministerial office after a long gap. “I have been informed that I will be inducted into the state cabinet. Oath ceremony will take place at 10 am on Tuesday,” he said. Sources in the BJP, which heads the ruling Mahayuti coalition, confirmed the development. The veteran politician will be sworn in by Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan. Mr Bhujbal (77), who has had a distinguished and eventful political career spanning several decades, had been notably absent during Chief Minister Fadnavis’s cabinet expansion in December last year. At the time, his exclusion from the cabinet had drawn public disappointment from the seasoned leader, a prominent OBC face in the state. His inclusion in the cabinet follows the resignation of Dhananjay Munde, a fellow NCP heavyweight who stepped down as the food, civil supplies and consumer protection minister in March. ‘Unholy alliance’: Two BJP leaders pour scorn on Ajit-led NCP | Pune News

After the disparaging remarks by state health minister Tanaji Sawant against the NCP, now two BJP leaders have targeted Ajit Pawar’s party. In the first instance, it was BJP spokesperson Ganesh Hake who termed the BJP-NCP alliance as unfortunate. “Our alliance with NCP was unfortunate. Actually, the alliance has not gone down well with either BJP or NCP. It was an unholy alliance. During Lok Sabha elections, NCP leaders and workers were seen in the Congress camp. Is it only the BJP’s duty to follow the alliance’s dharma?” He said. Another BJP leader, Dilip Deshmukh, on Saturday said BJP and Shiv Sena were real brothers while NCP was a step brother. “Because of NCP workers, BJP workers have suffered a lot,” he said, while alleging that Ajit Pawar discriminates while giving development funds. Deshmukh said, “In Maharashtra, there is a three party government. First party is BJP, second is Shiv Sena and the third is NCP. Actually, we didn’t want NCP because BJP and Shiv Sena are really brothers. There are no two opinions about …

Sharad Pawar Camp After Nephew Ajit Pawar Last Poll Dig

Ajit Pawar split the NCP in July last year and joined the Eknath Shinde government (File) Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a veiled jibe at Nationalist Congress Party founder Sharad Pawar alluded to his age and spoke about the “sentimental appeal of a last election”. The Sharad Pawar faction hit back, claiming the remarks were inhuman, and accused Ajit Pawar of “praying for the death” of his uncle. Ajit Pawar split the NCP in July last year and joined the Eknath Shinde government with eight MLAs. He has routinely justified his revolt by saying that the elders – a reference to octogenarian Sharad Pawar – should have given way to the next generation. Attacking Sharad Pawar, 83, without taking his name, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “I do not know when some people are going to stop. There might be a sentimental appeal that this would be the last election. Do not know which will be the last election.” He was speaking at a gathering in Maharashtra’s Baramati. Hitting back, MLA Jitendra …

ED questions Rohit Pawar for 11 hours, releases him late at night | Mumbai News

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday night released Nationalist Congress Party legislator Rohit Pawar from its office in Mumbai after questioning him for nearly 11 hours over the alleged Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank scam. Summoned to the ED office in the morning, the NCP MLA was released at 10.10 pm. He has been called again on February 1. “I wholeheartedly thank everyone who waited here for the whole day. We have decided not to bend in front of anyone and I am going to follow the same,” he said after his release, adding that he would continue to co-operate with the officials. He addressed party workers from the window at the first floor of NCP office. “During the 12-hour interrogation, I never felt tired because you all were chanting and sloganeering for me. I was instead getting re-energised. When our leader Sharad Pawar came here and waited for whole day, it was clear that Pawar saheb supports the one who fights and not the one who quits,” Rohit said. “We all have decided that we will …
