UAE left OPEC due to low size of oil quota, says former envoy Navdeep Suri

The UAE had been thinking of leaving the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) cartel for the last five years as the oil quota allotted to the country by the Saudi Arabia-dominated group was not considered sufficient, according to Navdeep Singh Suri, India’s former Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.     In an exclusive interview with IANS, Suri said: “There were indications as early as July 2021 that they were not happy with the quota that was allocated to them, about 2.7 million barrels per day. Rana was ruled out of the entire IPL 2026 after suffering a ligament strain in his right knee during India’s T20 World Cup warm-up game against South Africa. He underwent surgery in February and is currently undergoing an extensive rehabilitation process. Saini has 23 wickets in 32 IPL matches under his belt, in addition to 23 wickets in international cricket for India. The track at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi was painted with fresh paint and the workers were laying down a new ramp at the entrance of the classification office for smooth operation of wheelchairs as the national capital gears up to host its first-ever World Para-Athletics Grand Prix. The tournament will run from 11th March to 13th March and feature more than 280 para-athletes from 20 countries. India will field a contingent of 145 para-athletes across disciplines, including Paris Paralympics gold medalists Praveen (High Jump T64), Navdeep (Javelin F41), and Dharambir (Club Throw F51).
