Minutes after MI’s cheeky ‘(K)night’ post on Rohit Sharma, KKR announce Abhishek Nayar as their new head coach | Cricket News

Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday officially announced Abhishek Nayar as their new head coach, as was reported by The Indian Express on October 26. Interestingly, though, the three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions’ social media post announcing the development came about 15 minutes after Mumbai Indians cheekily indicated that their veteran former captain Rohit Sharma is not leaving the team. MI attached a picture of Rohit Sharma in their post and said: “Sun will rise tomorrow again ye confirm hai but at (K)night… mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai (It’s not just difficult, it’s impossible),” with the second half of the tweet written in Hindi and a play on the famous dialogue from the Don film series. KKR then tweeted: “A new dawn is upon us,” with a picture in which they welcomed Nayar as their new head coach. Here are the two tweets: ?????? ???????? ???????? ???????????????? ?????????? ye toh confirm hai, but at (K)night… ??????? ?? ????, ???????? ??! ?? pic.twitter.com/E5yH3abB4g — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) October 30, 2025 A new dawn is upon us …

What Abhishek Nayar has to say about his namesake Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav | Cricket News

‘How’s the Josh? High, Sir’ might have hugely different connotations for India T20I opener Abhishek Sharma, if the Josh in question is Hazlewood, and the high is referred to the steep bounce he expects to encounter in Australia. While cricket is just a game, and far from needing martial courage, it is where Abhishek Sharma will have to prove his mettle. The Aussie metronome’s high bounce and pinpoint bowling is most likely to test Sharma, according to Abhishek Nayar, former Mumbai all-rounder and KKR coach. Speaking on ‘Game Plan’ ahead of the first T20I on Wednesday, JioStar expert Abhishek Nayar opined, “These Australian conditions could suit Abhishek Sharma’s style perfectly, as he thrives on bounce and prefers playing beside the line. We’ve seen players like Travis Head succeed due to the consistent bounce.” Dubbing the T20I series in Australia a significant test for many of India’s young players, as it marks their first experience of playing T20 International cricket against a team of this calibre in such conditions, post the sub-par competition of Asia Cup, …
