For all those aspiring to join the Indian Army, here’s an opportunity through the NCC Special Entry Scheme 124th Course. Indian Army’s Directorate General of Recruiting opened it registration window on 12 February for a total of 76 vacancies for unmarried male and female candidates with some seats reserved for wards of battle casualties of Army personnel. Interested candidates who hold “NCC ‘C’ Certificate” are eligible to register for this recruitment drive. Notably, there will be no written examination under these posts, candidates will be shortlisted directly for further stages. The NCC Directorate Maharashtra flagged off the ‘Konkan Vijay 2026’ Open Sea Sailing Expedition, undertaken by the Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU) of the Directorate, a statement said on Monday. The 10-day expedition, which embodies the spirit of “Swaccha, Sundar and Samriddha Konkan” (Clean, Beautiful and Prosperous Konkan), will see 60 Naval NCC cadets sailing 127 nautical miles along the scenic Konkan coastline. The team will make port calls at Ranpar, Ambolgad, Purnagad, Dhaulwali and Vijaydurg, an official statement said. The voyage, supported by the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command and the Indian Coast Guard, aims to foster seamanship, teamwork, adventure spirit, and coastal environmental awareness among the cadets. Bilaspur: Eight persons, including seven teachers, were booked on Saturday for allegedly forcing some students of Guru Ghasidas Central University to offer namaz during an NCC camp in Chhattigarh’s Bilaspur district, a police official said. They forced 159 students to offer namaz during the camp held between March 26 to April 1 in Shivtarai village under Kota police station limits, though only four among them were Muslims, he said. A probe was instituted after students came back and protested, following which right wing outfits too agitated seeking action against those responsible, the official said. “The incident took place on March 31. Bilaspur Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh had constituted a four member committee under City Superintendent of Police (Kotwali) Akshay Sabadra to investigate the matter.
