Jahangir Khan who was wanted in several cases of Falta police station under Diamond Harbour has been arrested at around 1430 hours from Panitanki Bazar (near Nepal border) under Kharibari Police station by the special task force, West Bengal in a joint raid with Darjeeling Police team. He will be produced before the Court on Tuesday (June 9, 2026). According to police, Jahangir Khan was trying to flee the country from the bordering areas of West Bengal. There was allegations of electoral malpractices against the Trinamool leader when polling was held at Falta in the second phase on April 29. The election was cancelled by the Election Commission and re-polling was held on May 21. India on Tuesday said that there is no role for any third parties in a bilateral matter between India and Nepal and the two countries have established bilateral mechanisms to deal with all aspects of boundary matters.
