Netaji’s kin Chandra Kumar Bose after joining TMC| India News

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandnephew, Chandra Kumar Bose, on Sunday slammed the BJP, accusing the party of “dividing communities for vote bank politics”. (AITC/PTI Photo) Speaking with ANI after joining TMC, Chandra Kumar Bose equated the BJP with British rule, accusing them of bringing religion into politics, a policy that he said was opposed by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. “The BJP is against the Constitution because its one-point agenda is to divide and rule, to divide communities for vote bank politics. The British, their policy was divide and rule. The BJP practices the same policies as the British. They bring religion into politics, a policy which was vehemently opposed by my grandfather, Sarat Chandra Bose, and his younger brother, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,” he said. “I cannot accept the BJP’s way of thinking… I decided to leave, and I did not immediately join any party… I found that the …

‘Support His Posthumous Return’: Netaji’s Daughter Renews Call For Return Of Bose’s Ashes From Japan | India News

Last Updated:January 23, 2026, 07:18 IST Anita Bose Pfaff urges India to repatriate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s ashes from Tokyo’s Renkoji Temple, seeking a dignified final rite on his 129th birth anniversary. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (File photo) As the nation prepares to mark the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23, his daughter Anita Bose Pfaff has renewed her appeal for the repatriation of the ashes preserved at Tokyo’s Renkoji Temple, which she and several family members believe to be Netaji’s mortal remains. Pfaff said it would have caused deep anguish to Bose—who spent much of his life in exile while striving for India’s independence—that his remains continue to rest on foreign soil even more than eight decades after his death and nearly eight decades after India attained freedom. Calling upon those who continue to admire and honour Netaji, Pfaff urged Indians to support what she described as his “posthumous return from exile” and to back the transfer of his ashes to India for a dignified and appropriate final rite. …

Netaji’s Family Renews Plea To Bring Back Ashes In Urn At Japan Temple

Kolkata: Refuting perceptions of roadblocks to bring back the remains held in an urn in a Buddhist temple in Renkoji in Japan, widely believed to be that of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a section of descendants of the national hero claim they have documentary evidence to prove that the temple authorities have always been more than willing to hand over the ‘ashes’ to India. The demand to bring back the remains and conduct DNA tests to affirm whether they indeed belong to one of the tallest figures of India’s freedom struggle has been an abiding wish of a significant bulk of Netaji admirers who seek closure to one of India’s longest persisting enigma: whether Bose perished in the aftermath of a fatal Japanese military aircraft crash in present-day Taiwan, on August 18, 1945. Reports of as many as 10 national and international enquiries probing Netaji’s disappearance on that fateful day, now available in the national archives in New Delhi, have confirmed Bose’s death at a hospital in the Japanese military airfield in Taihoku, now Taiwan, …

Subhas Chandra Bose’s daughter writes: Bring Netaji’s ashes home

Jan 23, 2025 11:51 IST First published on: Jan 23, 2025 at 11:47 IST Share On August 18, 1945, three days after the end of World War II in the eastern theatre of war, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died following a plane crash in Taipei (then occupied by Japan). His remains were cremated there and taken to Tokyo. The community of Indian exiles who had made their home there arranged for the urn to be kept (and hidden from the US occupation forces) at Renkoji Temple temporarily — maybe a few months or a few years, at the most. Today, almost 80 years later, and more than 77 years after India became independent, Netaji’s remains are still honoured at Renkoji Temple. With Rev Mochizuki, the third generation of head priests exercises this function. At the time of Netaji’s death and shortly thereafter, a large part of the world was in total upheaval. Communication was archaic compared to today’s standards. There were several parties interested in ascertaining what truly happened to Netaji: Did he really die? …
