Kurush Heerjee & Manjot Singh in joint lead after Round 2 of PGTI NEXGEN Phillaur

Jamshedpur’s Kurush Heerjee and Chandigarh golfer Manjot Singh held the joint lead at a total of seven-under 135 after round two of the PGTI NEXGEN’s Phillaur Open presented by R S Gill being played at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur, Punjab. Chandarjeet Yadav (64) of Chandimandir, Amrit Lal (66) of Chandigarh and Delhi’s Wasim Khan (69) were placed tied third at totals of six-under 136. The cut went at three-over 145. The top 37 professionals made the cut for the third and final round. Kurush Heerjee (68-67) mixed six birdies and two bogeys during his opening round. Kurush produced some great wedge shots to land the ball within four feet on three occasions which resulted in two birdies and a par. The 29-year-old Heerjee also executed two of his bunker shots to perfection that led to birdies for him. On the back-nine Kurush was exceptional with his putter as he sank a 50-footer and a 20-footer for birdies. Heerjee thus climbed five spots from his overnight tied sixth position. Panchkula’s Brijesh Kumar saved his best for the last as he produced the final day’s best score of five-under 67 to register an incredible come-from-behind victory at the PGTI NEXGEN Kapurthala 2025 played at the RCF Golf Course in Kapurthala. Twenty-five-year-old Brijesh Kumar (68-70-67), who was overnight tied fourth and four shots off the lead, finished with a winning total of 11-under 205 to triumph with a two-shot margin. Brijesh, who missed the cut in the NEXGEN season-opener staged in Gurugram last week, picked up the winner’s cheque worth INR 2,54,300 that propelled him to joint first in the PGTI NEXGEN Order of Merit along with Rajesh Kumar Gautam. Delhi’s Ajay Baisoya (67-67-73), the overnight leader by three shots, returned a 73 on Thursday to end the week as runner-up at nine-under 207. Wasim Khan leads Round 1 at PGTI NEXGEN Kapurthala

Delhi’s Wasim Khan shot a six-under 66 to lead after round one of the PGTI NEXGEN Kapurthala 2025 being played at the RCF Golf Course in Kapurthala, Punjab. Wasim struck seven birdies and a bogey during his opening round on Tuesday. Delhi’s Ajay Baisoya was placed second with a score of five-under 67. Panchkula’s Brijesh Kumar was placed third at 68. Local lad Ashbeer Saini of Kapurthala made a hole-in-one on the 10th during his round of 69. He was placed tied fourth along with Sudipta Das and Amrit Lal. The 34-year-old Wasim Khan landed his shots within five feet on three occasions for birdies. He also made a great recovery from the trees to extract a birdie on the 16th. His longest birdie conversion of the day was a 12-footer on the 12th. Wasim said, “I struck the ball well, landing it close for most of the day. My tee shots and iron-play were great. The 2025 Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) NEXGEN season is set to begin on . The three NEXGEN events have a prize purse of INR 20 lakh each. The top-60 players from the 2024 PGTI Order of Merit are not eligible to play on the NEXGEN Tour in 2025. The winner of this year’s NEXGEN Order of Merit will earn an exemption on the main PGTI tour in the 2026 season. The NEXGEN season gets underway with the first event – PGTI NEXGEN Gurugram – which will be played from 11 March, 2025 to 13 March, 2025 at the Golden Greens Golf & Polo Club in Gurugram. The field in the season-opener will feature a total of 90 players. The second event of the season will be PGTI NEXGEN Kapurthala which will be played from 18 March, 2025 to 20 March, 2025 at the RCF Golf Club in Kapurthala.
