Boxing Nationals: Next-Gen announces arrival as Jadumani Singh batters veteran Amit Panghal | Sport-others News

Not long ago, Amit Panghal was India’s number one boxer in the lower weight categories, competing at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics while winning the 2018 Asian Games gold medal and a World Championships silver in 2019. However, time stands still for no one as the 30-year-old found out in his semifinal loss to youngster Jadumani Singh at the ongoing boxing nationals. The 21-year-old from Manipur was too quick for the veteran and despite Amit’s best attempts, he had run out of gas by the end of the second round. Jadumani started the bout with a flurry of punches while Amit was still gauging his opponent. While he managed to land a few jabs, Amit’s defence saved him from the onslaught before he landed a few punches of his own. The youngster’s aggressive start helped him win the first round. “I have trained with Amit bhai in the past. He is a legend of the game. Last year before the Paris Olympics, I sparred with him and learnt a lot. I asked him how to …

Can India’s NextGen of chess players live upto the expectations in the era of Gukesh and Praggnannandhaa | Chess News

In the span of a heady few hours for Indian chess on Friday, there were twin coronations. In Petrovac, Montenegro, 18-year-old Pranav Venkatesh became the world junior champion a few hours after Aravindh Chithambaram won the Prague Masters event in Czechia. It was another sign that the next wave of Indian gunslingers was already arriving on the scene, even while the world is still gawking at names like D. Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, R. Praggnanandhaa and Vidit Gujrathi. “Obviously, we were very optimistic about Indian chess some months ago. But if players like Aravindh and Pranav Venkatesh join the party, then of course that’s great for us,” Viswanathan Anand declared after Pranav’s victory. Story continues below this ad Pranav’s victory at the World Junior Chess Championship came a year after Divya Deshmukh had won the equivalent girls’ title. After Anand, India struggled to produce a steady stream of super-elite chess talents. For a brief period, Pentala Harikrishna and later Vidit kept India relevant in elite chess, but such exceptional players remained rare. The era dominated by …

BMW’s next-gen EVs depend on an unassuming black box called ‘Heart of Joy’

BMW’s next-gen EVs depend on an unassuming black box called ‘Heart of Joy’

Last November, I strapped into the rear passenger seat of an all-electric, four-door sedan with BMW test driver and 24-hour racer Jens Klingmann behind the wheel. It was a cold day at BMW’s Performance Driving Center in Greer, SC, and beneath the five-point harnesses, roll cage, and heavily camouflaged body, Klingmann had an unexpected co-pilot: a tiny black box called the “Heart of Joy.” It was an odd name for an interesting suite of tech features powering my brief three-lap stint on the 1.7-mile performance track. The Heart of Joy represents an interesting future for the German brand that still wants to be known as the “Ultimate Driving Machine” in the electrified future. The vehicle we rode in is called the Vision Driving Experience (VDX), a one-off built specifically for testing this supposedly magic black box, as well as more upcoming features for BMW’s Neue Klasse platform. The VDX uses fans to suck it down to the track for better traction at speed. Those fans are loud inside the vehicle, making it nearly impossible to …

Apple finally admits next-gen CarPlay isn’t coming in 2024

Apple finally admits next-gen CarPlay isn’t coming in 2024

Apple first announced the “next generation of CarPlay” back in 2022, but updates about its arrival have been sporadic. Porsche and Aston Martin haven’t provided any launch dates despite saying their cars would be the first to get the new CarPlay. Some automakers like Ford and Mercedes were slow to confirm support, while others like General Motors and Rivian have snubbed CarPlay entirely in favor of having more control over their vehicles. Despite not posting a revised date, there are indications that Apple will launch it eventually. There are references to next-generation ‌CarPlay‌ in the iOS 18.3 beta released last month, for example, and Apple has recently filed new images of it in an EU database. Apple also told 9to5Mac that it’s working closely with several automakers that will implement the new CarPlay experience. “Each car brand will share more details as they near the announcements of their models that will support the next generation of CarPlay,” Apple told the outlet.
