Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had alleged the role of Indian “agents” in the murder.  “The security and intelligence chiefs are likely to discuss ways to deal with terror financing as well as crimes in the digital space,” a senior official said, seeking anonymity. In a podcast with ANI, Sanjay Verma shared his experience of threats and intimidation from the Khalistanis. Sanjay Verma said, “All these attempts to harm me bodily, that was in the presence of Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the local police and the local police on the ground took immediate action, pushed him away because there was a sharp weapon and the RCMP then whisked me from the side door to the venue.” “It was in Alberta. I am not an expert on Canadian law about open carrying so I will not be able to say that. But most likely they would have said that it was ‘kirpan’ which is a small blade whereas they had swords in their hand. They could come very, very close to …

Congress to govt: Issue clear response to Canada, allegations can damage Brand India | India News

The Congress Wednesday asked the government to come out with a prompt and clear response to allegations levelled by Canada, saying these can tarnish the country’s global reputation and damage Brand India. The main Opposition party also reiterated its demand that the government take the Opposition into confidence and brief its leaders about the fresh diplomatic row that has worsened India-Canada relations. “Our nation’s international image as a country that believes in and adheres to rule of law is at risk, and it is crucial that we act together to defend it. On matters relating to national security and foreign policy, the nation must always be one,” said Congress communication head Jairam Ramesh. The Congress’s hardening of stance came even as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admitted that his government only provided intelligence and no proof to India over the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil, before going public with the allegations. Ramesh said the charges levelled by Canada are serious. “The Indian National Congress has already asked the Prime Minister to take …

On Monday, Delhi also said that since the allegations were first made, the Trudeau administration “has not shared a shred of evidence with the Government of India, despite many requests…” In comments after India ejected six Canadian diplomats – including acting High Commissioner Stewart Wheeler and his deputy – Mr Trudeau said he had shared information …
