Man, 29, Associated With Nishad Party Dies By Suicide In UP

Maharajganj: A 29-year-old man associated with the Nishad Party committed suicide on Sunday by hanging himself at his house in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, police said on Monday. The man has been identified as Dharmatma Nishad (29), a resident of Narkatha village in Paniyara police station area of Maharajganj district. The man recently made serious allegations against Nishad Party chief and Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad. “I lost the battle of my life. This is my last message. Today after a lot of thinking, I have decided that this world is of no use to me. I tried to help as many people as I could according to my capacity and many times I even helped people beyond my capacity. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and ex-Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Mayawati, has accused the ruling BJP and the principal Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) of being allegedly “hand in glove”, claiming that they have “lost sleep” since her party entered the fray from the nine Assembly seats bound for the November 20 bypolls in the state. In the 2022 UP Assembly elections, out of these nine seats, the SP won four as against the BJP’s three, with RLD and the NISHAD party getting one seat each. Of these seats, the BSP had then finished as the runner-up in one seat, the SC (Scheduled Castes)-reserved Khair in Aligarh district, and in third position in seven seats, which include Katehari, Phulpur, Meerapur, Karhal, Kundarki, Ghaziabad and Majahwan. The BSP had put up its best show in Khair, where its candidate garnered 26% votes, losing to the BJP’s candidate by over 74,000 votes.
