Days after a rape case was filed against Malayalam star Nivin Pauly based on a woman’s complaint that he sexually abused her in a Dubai hotel last year after promising her a role in a film, the actor voiced suspicions that the complaint is part of a larger conspiracy. He also suggested that people within the Malayalam film industry might be responsible for orchestrating it. Nivin made these allegations in a complaint to Crime Branch ADGP H Venkatesh IPS, who oversees the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Kerala government to investigate sexual harassment allegations involving several industry insiders.
