Veer Chotrani falls short of world no.1 Asal

Veer Chotrani bowed out in the second round of the 2026 PSA Squash World Championships, losing to World No. 1 Mostafa Asal in Giza, Egypt, on Sunday. Veer was India’s last man standing at the tournament, but he couldn’t offer much resistance to the defending champion, conceding a straight-game defeat, 5-11, 2-11, 4-11. The home favourite showed his class and outpowered Veer, who could only score 11 points from the three games and exited in the Round of 32. This will be Veer’s back-to-back second-round exit at the World Championships, following his defeat last year to then world no.1 Ali Farag. Earlier in the competition, Veer had upset his fellow compatriot and the India no.1 Abhay Singh in a marathon hour-long match on Friday. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in Australia, doing so in just ten days of its release. The Ranveer Singh starrer collected AUD 568K on its second Saturday, pushing its total to AUD 5.99 million, overtaking the lifetime gross of its predecessor Dhurandhar (AUD 5.60 million). Today, the film has hit a new benchmark for Indian cinema by surpassing AUD 6 million, and will be over AUD 6.40 million by EOD. With the second weekend bringing in around AUD 1.40 million, there is still significant momentum left in the run. The coming week will see the film benefit from the Easter holiday period, although there will be competition from Hollywood releases. Even so, the film is on course to comfortably storm past AUD 7 million and has a strong shot at reaching AUD 8 million by the end of its run. After facing stiff competition from Sony’s latest animated feature, GOAT, it has reclaimed the No. 1 spot at the North American box office. The film collected an impressive $37.5 million over the four-day Friday-Monday period and added another $3.5 million on Tuesday, a relatively modest 25.5% drop from Monday.
