NRAI announces Indian shooting squad for the 2026 Asian Games

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), on Thursday, announced the 18-member Indian Rifle and Pistol contingent for the shooting programme of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. They combined with the 12-member Indian shotgun squad will form a strong Indian shooting team that will be fighting for medals across 28 events in Japan. After a gruelling 5-day final selection trials in Dehradun earlier this week, the Indian team has witnessed some surprising entries and big exits. One of the major decisions is that India will send only one athlete in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event due to the limited quota of 30 athletes. Due to the quota restriction, India has also selected several shooters with lower national rankings who are capable of competing in two events. Two-time Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker is one of the shooters selected for two events, the women’s 25m pistol and the women’s 10m air pistol. Meanwhile, the other two Paris Olympic medalists, Sarabjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale, missed out on the team after finishing 9th and 29th, respectively, in the …

Restaurants face LPG supply crisis, NRAI warns of ‘catastrophic closures’| India News

Restaurants across various parts of the country have reported shortage in the supply of commercial cooking gas, with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) on Monday urging the Centre to intervene, saying any disruption to LPG cylinder supply will lead to a “catastrophic closure” of restaurants. The association pointed out that a March 5 order issued by the Centre directing public sector oil marketing companies to ensure LPG is supplied to domestic consumers, has impacted the deliveries of commercial gas cylinders to restaurants. (Praful Gangurde/Hindustan Times) The development comes amid rising energy costs and supply constraints caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. “The restaurant industry is predominantly dependent on commercial LPG for its operations. Any disruption therein will lead to a catastrophic closure of majority of restaurants,” NRAI, which represents around half a million restaurants across the country, said in a letter to the Union petroleum and natural gas ministry. Olympian shooter Angad Bajwa explains why he switched nationality to Canada

Having donned the Indian jersey with pride since his junior debut in 2013, Olympian and two-time Asian championship skeet shooting medalist Angad Singh Bajwa is set to switch his nationality. In an exclusive conversation with The Bridge, the 30-year-old confirmed that he will represent Canada in future competitions and the move was driven by personal and professional considerations. “It was a very emotional decision and a very tough one for me to take,” Bajwa said. “I’ve been competing in India for the last 12-13 years, but the major reason was family and business there. It’s getting very difficult for me to travel every month. At this point, this felt like the easiest decision I could make,” he added. Bajwa’s move was cemented when he received formal clearance – a no-objection certificate (NOC) – from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
