NTK chief Seeman demands ban on Jr NTR-Trivikram film over Lord Murugan portrayal | Telugu News

The storm around Jr NTR‘s upcoming film with director Trivikram Srinivas has grown louder, with Naam Tamilar Katchi chief Seeman demanding that the Tamil Nadu government block the film’s release in the state over its apparent depiction of Lord Murugan. In a statement posted on X on Sunday, the NTK leader cautioned the makers that they would face severe consequences if they went ahead with what he called an attempt to twist Tamil history and culture. He also appealed to the state government, theatre owners and distributors to keep both the Tamil and Telugu versions out of Tamil Nadu screens unless changes were made. The trouble traces back to June 29, when producer Naga Vamsi announced the yet-untitled project starring Jr NTR. His announcement read, “Born in the North. Forged in the Heartland. Worshipped in the South. Now… A tale destined to belong to the universe.” Jr NTR’s own post left less to the imagination, describing the subject as “The Son of Shiva. The Pride of Parvathi. The Eternal Commander.” The poster, featuring a weapon …

NTK will go it alone in the next Lok Sabha elections: Seeman

Seeman | Photo Credit: S. Shivaraj Undeterred by the consecutive electoral setbacks, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief co-ordinator Seeman on Monday said the party will contest alone in all 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry General elections in 2029. He urged his party cadre not to get disheartened by the recent Assembly election results, which saw the party’s vote share drop by 50%. Speaking at “May 18 Tamil Genocide Day” observation near Chennai, Mr. Seeman said the voters in Tamil Nadu did not seem to want an “ideology” but preferred an “image”. “What Tamil people want is not ideology, but an image. We studied history, economics, geology, chemistry, sociology, agriculture, and literature. But people have taught us a different lesson. This is new to us. We will learn that too,” he said. Mr. Seeman said “victory” was running towards the party now and added people will “search for a candle when there is no electricity in the night”. “When there is injustice, they will search for good people. One day, people will …

A true benevolent authoritarian enforces discipline for the greater good: Seeman

A true benevolent authoritarian enforces discipline for the greater good: Seeman

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman, in an interview with The Hindu in Chennai on Friday, shares his thoughts on his party’s Assembly election manifesto, his leadership style, and other aspects. Edited excerpts: Your party’s manifesto talks about reorganising the economy around agriculture. Are you talking about shutting down industries and factories over time or seeking balance between industrial growth and agricultural growth? I am not saying we should shut it down. But there are toxic industries that poison the land, water, and air. Those cannot be allowed to operate. If we want to provide jobs for everyone and build a stable economy, we must move towards an agriculture-centred economy. We must achieve self-sufficiency in food production. Today, many countries have collapsed because they abandoned agriculture. Meanwhile, even essential food items such as onions are imported from countries like Egypt. What pride is there in exporting cars? I am not saying shut the factories. Let them exist. But I will also create government-led industries based on local resources. These will create jobs without huge …

Seeman, chief coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), releases the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in Chennai on Thursday | Photo Credit: B. Jothi Ramalingam The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has released its 2026 election manifesto, outlining an expansive governance framework centred on decentralisation, social welfare, and Tamil identity. The manifesto proposes a major administrative overhaul, including the creation of multiple functional capitals across Tamil Nadu to ease pressure on Chennai and improve access to governance. It suggests distributing administrative, legislative, industrial, and cultural functions across cities such as Tiruchi, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Kanniyakumari.  A strong focus is placed on agriculture, which the party positions as the backbone of the economy. The document calls for policies to strengthen farmers’ livelihoods, protect natural resources, and ensure food security. It also stresses water management, environmental conservation, and climate resilience as key priorities. Women’s representation On governance, the manifesto proposes dedicated representation for women in legislative bodies, arguing that existing mechanisms have not ensured adequate participation. It calls for reserved constituencies and institutional changes to …

File | Photo Credit: ANI The AIADMK, which has realised that it needs to tie up with parties of considerable — if not, substantial — following to succeed in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, appears to be keeping its options open for an alliance with parties such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK)  As of now, the party has not entered into an electoral deal with any of these parties, even though it has been maintaining that there is still time for the organisation to firm up any arrangement with other parties. The talk of alliance involving the Dravidian major and the BJP has acquired momentum after the former’s general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accompanied by a group of senior colleagues, met Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah in New Delhi last week.   Though informal discussions with the TVK and the NTK have not yet yielded any tangible result, …

Seeman’s security guard, driver move Madras High Court seeking bail

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader S. Seeman’s security guard M. Amalraj, 50, and driver B. Subakar, 34, have approached the Madras High Court seeking bail in a case registered against them for allegedly restraining an Inspector of Police from entering the politician’s bungalow at Neelankarai in Chennai on February 27, 2025, and reportedly attempting to fire at him with a pistol. Justice Sunder Mohan on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) granted time till Thursday (March 13, 2025) for the prosecution to file its counter affidavit to the bail plea filed jointly by both the accused. Though the prosecution sought time till Friday (March 14, 2025) to file its response and the petitioners’ counsel accused it of wantonly delaying the hearing, the judge decided to give a short opportunity to the police to file its response. The Neelankarai police had filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) against the petitioners. The first FIR was booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by S. Gopi, Sub Inspector of Valasaravakkam police station in Chennai. According to the complainant, he …

The High Court had directed the presence of the petitioner in the court at the next hearing in March, 2025. Only NTK can implement Periyar’s ideas; DMK can only speak about it: Seeman

Naam Tamilar Katchi chief Seeman on Sunday paid floral tributes to the statute of Iyothee Thass Pandithar, a renowned anti-caste activist and an early proponent of the Dravidian ideology, in Tambaram. On the occasion, he contended that only his party, and not the DMK, will be able to implement the ideas of the Dravidar Kazhagam founder Periyar E V Ramasamy. Mr. Seeman said while NTK has given seats to equal number of women and men in the latest parliamentary elections, DMK has only used ‘social justice’ as an empty statement. “It should be considered a big deal that we gave an equal number of seats to men and women. We believe in equality of the sexes. It is social justice. How many Muslims and Christians were given tickets by the DMK? They gave one seat to IUML and that was all,” he said. Mr. Seeman also opposed the plan to build Vallalar International Centre in Cuddalore’s Vadalur. “We are not against building a centre for Vallalar. It can be built elsewhere and more money may …
